The first 2 weeks for LZ is still the biggest surprise of the season for me. Not just losing but getting blown out by Fremd and GBS.
Weren’t you the same guy who accused the JCA faithful of sandbagging and suggested they would easily go 2-0?JCA folks sandbagging…never.
It's really not hyperbole to say they must beat Fenwick to have any reasonably simple avenue to 5 wins. With Marist, Naz, and MC upcoming, that is 3 games as 7 plus point dogs with a loss already in hand. If you beat Fenwick, there is still a path to 5 as long as you can beat ND and PC (who both look pretty good overall so far). Lose to Fenwick and the tough sledding just gets tougher.JCA folks sandbagging…never.
The Bears had 29 passes and 22 runs so they were fairly balanced. They only had 84 yards rushing and 45 of those yards came on their 3 longest runs. I'd say the Titans defense wasn't going to let them establish the run. Shorter throws? Williams average per attempt was 3.2 yards, so he wasn't exactly slinging it.Let's focus on three things:
1. Confidence boosting plays/establishing the run game - you brought in one of the top pass catching RBs in the league and grossly underutilized his talents. Instead, we are doing things like taking shots on 3rd and 2. Caleb seemed "hyped up" and was sailing throws. Calm him down with shorter throws
2. Utilizing your TE - this both boosts confidence as mentioned previously as well as helps your OL. I'm interested to see how often we had Kmet lined up tight today
3. More roll outs - the Bears have had 3 straight 1st round QBs that move well out of the pocket combined with below average OL. Yet, we love to have them drop back and "wait" for plays to develop. Get him rolling out to help the line until the defense adapts.
Yes, since the Covid year, Oswego hasn’t been typical Oswego, but most of those people in the know should have been aware that many of this year’s Sr class have been playing Varsity since their sophomore year.I think most of the JC faithful here knew what we were getting when Oswego was scheduled. They are what I thought they would be. Perhaps a little better. JC responded not as well as I would have liked. But the win was not a surprise to most. When I saw the Oswego game on the schedule, I thought it was overscheduling. If we didn't already have Marist, Naz, MC, PC, Fenwick, etc. then I would love Oswego to bolster the schedule.
As it was, I said the Oswego game would be a good gauge and fans of other programs seemed to call that classic JC sandbagging.
So it seems like any perception of not knowing was not coming from the JC camp.
That said, I will say that I knew the talent they had returning. However, their "merely" above average results last year makes me understand why some were still in the "prove it" mode before they believed in what Oswego was cooking. I think they should run the table in their league. Then we will see what November brings.
Agree Power66.That people still don't know how to update thread titles with the scores

I mean, an offense that features up to 3 backs and highlights their abilities is bound to attract running back talent. Kids like Jordan Anderson and both Iannantones and Grigsby and Keenan Hailey like to get the ball 20 plus times a game. Might this come at the expense of some 6'2" 170 pound WR speedsters? Sure. But it's hard to create an offense that is going to be attractive to both running backs and QBs/WRs.By featuring a one back, run first-at-all-costs offense, it’s a challenge to attract athletic kids who could develop into star power
What exactly were you looking for in a rookie QBs first NFL game?
Let's focus on three things:What mysterious play or formation would you have liked him to call that would’ve made the o line block, well anyone, or make receivers catch?
When your o line can’t block anyone it does make the o coordinator look bad I guess
We are not sore losers. AKA blame Refs, etc.You guys are the same side, I guess a shutout is expected to bring out anger. JCA will be fine. I mean
Hopefully.
Get a grip? That made me laugh.Kevin, you played in the program.
Get a goddam grip on yourself and trust that the coaches know what is best.
Make Tony Janc proud.
I didn’t agree with a couple play calls but hey it’s a first game for everyone. I didn’t like them trying to throw the ball early in the game when they only needed 1 yard for a first down but hey it was only a couple of plays that we could second guess. What mysterious play or formation would you have liked him to call that would’ve made the o line block, well anyone, or make receivers catch?

Kevin, you played in the program.I realize your reply was not directed at me necessarily, but it could have been because I'm being hard on Jaws right now.
Although it may not sound like it right now, I'm a big Coach Jaws fan, but I have to admit that over their last 16 games I have been saying "Jaws WTF are you doing?" a lot, especially the last 3 games.
It's almost like, his success is making him scared of doing something wrong and has greatly and adversely effected his game planning and play calling. Either that , or he has absolutely no faith in his teams ability to complete a forward pass.

34-14 over Kenwoodanyone know how Naz Fresh did?
I realize your reply was not directed at me necessarily, but it could have been because I'm being hard on Jaws right now.The Head Coach is starting his 7th year.
One of his previous six years was the COVID year.
In five years of normal structure he has led his squad to three State Championship games and won two.
When he took the job the previous squad went 1-8.
He and his staff have proven that they know how to develop football players and win.
He moves well in the pocket while still looking down field. He had some quick passes, he had a few passes dropped but it’s part of the game. He looks composed for a rookie first game. Yes he wasn’t as accurate as he could be but he has the ability and confidence. He shows flashes but I know he needs to improve. I believe he will and later in the season we will have a different conversation. 4A he is a rookie so let’s see how he does in up coming games. I will take the win and glad our defense stepped up.I'm not hating, I'm just stating facts. Please tell me what signs you saw in today's game that made you think he is who you think he can be?
