Loyola did have a good team in 2020, the Covid-shortened, six-game season. MC still had Justin Lynch, Kennena Odeluga, and Austin Haygood from the 2019 state championship team, but somebody said the Caravan was plagued by injuries. Meanwhile, Loyola had Vaughn Pemberton, the Sun-Time player of the year, who had 23 carries for 125 yards and three touchdowns, taking Loyola past the Caravan, 35-17.
