Moline 47, UTHS 14 - Moline got called for a ton of penalties, and decided to throw the ball a ton. UT has talent and some decent offensive stuff but this was too much for them.
Sterling 34, Quincy 28 (OT) - Game of the year so far and it did not disappoint. Quincy had an open receiver on 4th down in OT and couldn't complete the pass. What a fun one.
Geneseo 47, Alleman 0 - Same story, different week for the Pioneers.
Rock Island 35, Galesburg 14 - Streaks hung with Rock Island for a while, but Rocky has too much.
My picks were 4-0 last week.
This week:
Moline over Galesburg - This game might look close for a while but I don't see the Streaks, try as they might, beating Moline at this point.
UTHS over Alleman -The Panthers should finally get a win here, but I'm interested to see if their porous defense allows Alleman to score more than one touchdown for only the second time this year.
Quincy over Geneseo - this one is likewise gonna be really interesting. I think Quincy just has a few too many athletes and a bit too much firepower for the Maple Leafs.
Sterling over Rock Island - Talk about a tough home stretch for the Rocks - after this week, they host Geneseo and then travel to Quincy, needing one of three to get into the playoffs. I expect Sterling to win going into what looks like a Western Big Six championship game next week.

TRAC
Hall 26, Kewanee 15 - Nice win for the Red Devils, now 3-3 and with a real shot at the postseason somehow. Kewanee's 8-1 season last year is now a quite distant memory.
St. Bede 31, Bureau Valley 20 - Chalk this one up to the Bruins having a week off, maybe, but this wasn't their best. Credit them for getting through a tough one, I suppose?
Mendota 49, Sherrard 35 - Neither of these teams are the best in the state, but they both showed out pretty well and credit to them for that. Fun game all around.
Princeton 37, Newman 0 - Like I said, Newman could slow down but not stop Princeton. The Tigers run on.
EP 19, Harvard 6 - Harvard has played bigger competition all year but given the drive, I'd have expected the Panthers to play better.
Monmouth-Roseville 35, Orion 12 - Well, Mon-Rose has managed to get themselves out of their hole. What a dominant (and unexpected) performance from them.
Rockridge 36, Morrison 22 - Another slight dud of a performance from the Rockets - the Mustangs have some pluck, I suppose.
I was 5-2 (missed on Monmouth-Roseville and Mendota).
This week:
Monmouth-Roseville is taking the Riverdale forfeit.
Rockridge over Sherrard - I guess it's a get-well game for the Rockets, who could use one to get back on track.
Orion over Morrison - Orion is the first of a number of 3-3 teams who have one game they "should" win, one they "should" lose, and one that's a toss-up to determine whether they make the playoffs. This is their "toss-up"against a Morrison team that needs to win out.
Erie-Prophetstown over Bureau Valley - EP is another one of the 3-3 teams, but all of their remaining games are certainly winnable. I think the Panthers take this one.
Mendota over Kewanee - Mendota has the hardest road of the 3-3 teams and this is probably their "should win" game. Not easy but I think they take it over the reeling Boilermakers.
Newman over Hall - Both teams could really use this game as both are 3-3. Hall needs it more with a trip to St. Bede next week, but I'm feeing Newman in a real toss-up game.
Princeton over St. Bede - the game of the week in north-central Illinois. I think St. Bede just had a bad day last week, but it may not matter against probably the best 3A team outside of the Chicago media market.

Moline over Galesburg: Galesburg might be the one team bigger size-wise in the conference than Moline, but Moline can run you over and pass over the top. Game will be close til Riley Fuller starts finding gaps and breaking off huge runs.

United Township over Alleman: UT will get the win just by having more kids and better athletes, but I can see Alleman getting a few scores on O and securing a few good stops on D.

Quincy over Geneseo: I honestly have no clue what to think of this game. There is just a lot going into it. The Blue Devils have to make the long bus ride after an emotionally draining OT loss last week. Geneseo is in “must win” mode as they have 4 wins but face Quincy, Rock Island, and Moline to end the regular season. Winner gets that 5th win and can breath a little easier.

Sterling over Rock Island: Sterling being at home this week after the 6 hour round trip (plus OT game) is huge for them to get their legs back. Playing a Rocky team that has been poor against the run this year might tire those legs out again. Both these teams can score on any given play, but Sterling’s D will be the difference maker.

TRAC

Rockridge over Sherrard: Sherrard will continue to be a tough out and make teams earn it, but Rockridge has the firepower to pull away after the half.

Morrison over Orion: Both teams are in “Have to win” mode, Morrison even more so. All the stops could be pulled out in this one by both teams.

Erie-Prophetstown over Bureau Valley: EP is also in “have to win” mode (in all honestly, half the TRAC is at this point). Bureau Valley will give them a game, but I think EP has just enough mustard to get the W.

Mendota over Kewanee: Mendota is fighting for that 4th win. Kewanee is fighting for it’s season. I think the teams are pretty even so this one could be a barn burner.

Hall over Newman: Once again, 3-3 teams facing off and fighting for a post season shot. If you love defensive, low scoring affairs, this one might be the one for you. Points will be at premium and it might come down to a kicker getting to play the hero.

Princeton over St. Bede: I hope they changed the bulbs on the scoreboard because this one has the chance to get nuts. I think Princeton still runs away with it, but it would not surprise me to see 80+ points scored in total.

(On a side note, I feel a 5-4 or 6-3 TRAC team is going to end up being a very nasty surprise for someone in the first round of the playoffs)
