WB6

United Township 63 – Galesburg 46: Both defenses started basketball season a week early. Galesburg finishes the season 2-7. UT finishes the season 4-5 and maybe doesn’t feel so bad about that week 6 loss to Rocky because….

Rock Island 15 – Geneseo 12: Rocky has found itself some defense which is a really good building block going forward for them. Rocky finishes the year 3-6, which includes a 3-1 run the last 4 weeks with wins over Geneseo and Sterling. The Leafs somewhat fell apart towards the end of the season. They still finish 6-3 and will play week 10, but were 1-3 the last 4 weeks.

Sterling 22 – Moline 17: Man, I can’t make heads or tails of this Sterling team. Tonight, they went blow for blow with the Maroons, forcing two HUGE interceptions. Maybe they just wanted to play the “If we can’t have week 10, then neither can you!” villain. Moline had a chance in the 4th to go up by a touchdown and got stuffed three times inside the Sterling 2 yard line and had to settle for a FG. Sterling took the final lead 1 play later. Both teams finish at 4-5.

Quincy 56 – Mahomet-Seymour 33: Game was 35-33 going into the 4th when Quincy hit the NOS button and sped to the finish line. Quincy finishes the season a perfect 9-0 and should host round 1. I feel come playoff time, they will go as far as their offenses ability to score will take them as I feel the defense can be taken advantage of by good teams.

Quincy and Geneseo will probably be the only 2 schools playing in week 10.

TRAC

Princeton 54 – Hall 0: Just Princeton doing Princeton things. Put the game away early and called it good. Princeton ends the season 8-1 and are the TRAC Mississippi champs. Hall finishes the season 3-6. Princeton should host a round 1 game.

Kewanee 50 – ACC 0: Kewanee doing Kewanee things. Much like with Princeton, the Boilermakers got up big early, have ACC no chance, and coasted to the easy win. Kewanee finishes the season at 8-1 and will probably host a round 1 game.

Morrison 38 – Bureau Valley 13: BV played tough, but they were not on Morrison’s level as the Mustangs just kept pulling away as the game went on. BV ends the season 4-5 while Morrison is 8-1 and will probably host a round 1 game.

Newman 50 – Mendota 0: And our 3rd fifty-something to nothing game of the TRAC evening. Newman finds some offense!!!! I know it’s against lowly Mendota, but this has to be a big confidence boost going into the playoffs for them. Mendota just didn’t show much this game, or the season as a whole and finish 1-8. Newman finishes 7-2 and unsure if they seed high enough to host round 1.

Rockridge 41 – Erie-Prophetstown 6: EP had played very well the past three weeks, but ran into a buzz saw that is a Rockridge team looking to do some damage in the playoffs. EP finished the season 3-6. Rockridge finishes 8-1 and is the TRAC Rock champions and should host round 1 of the playoffs.

Monmouth-Roseville 34 – Sherrard 18: Monmouth needed this one to get to 5 wins, and as always Sherrard was a tough customer, but they could never quite put it together for a whole game. Monmouth jumped out in front and kept control of the game. MR finishes 5-4 and could make life miserable for a higher seed round 1. Sherrard finishes 3-6.

Orion 55 – Riverdale 12: Eh, not much to say here. Both teams who’s seasons were far over. One was way better than the other. Just nice to see Riverdale back on the gridiron. Orion finishes 3-6. Riverdale finishes 0-9.

TRAC should be well represented week 10 with Princeton, Kewanee, Morrison, Rockridge, Newman, and MonRose.

…And because it doesn’t happen often, shout out to Rock Falls for ending the season with a win, beating Winnebago 41(!)-35.
