The old private/public debate! jeez. still. EASY FIX.

You must work for big government.

Adding a conference multiplier tax and having the.original private school multiplier tax.

Nuts!
Conference multiplier is a replacement for private school multiplier. Some details would need to be worked out like Independents (and perhaps minimums to deal with the odd CCL format with 4-team divisions). But a long time ago conference association was the determining factor for playoff classification. Adding a multiplier as a wrinkle (for all conferences) just acts to solidify belief that enrollment alone is only one factor. You can tweak all other factors into a broad based multiplier such that enrollment is main, but not only component to classifications.

DePaul and Chi Christian would have qualified. Christian only has a couple of past playoff wins. Going back six years, DePaul doesn’t have any. Last year may have been the first year they made it a lost in round one. They just grew in size over the last three years

Oh well, pencil in SHG vs Byron for the next two years in 3A
All.... Hold on. Despite wwhat the "Souc" has mentioned (he doesn't have 23 and 24 enrollment numbers) SHG at best has a 50- 50 shot ending up in 3A. Very small gains in those two years which I don't have in front of me. Using past class numbers in the postseason I see them as one of the very smallest teams in 4A. They will be listed in 3A preseason but that field greatly narrows when schools drop out of making the playoffs. Ratsy

they have to stay within the boundaries... is it 50 mile or 20 mile radius?

i am sure i am missing some other private schools (not just catholic) Leo, DelaSalle, Mt Carmel, Saint Rita, Bro Rice all battle for the same kids.

It's freedom of choice i guess. Go where you want as far as the private schools within the boundaries.

my post is all ignotated from the Anticoch DC complaining. calling other schools all star schools/teams. That just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe he should spend more time watching film and putting his scripts together than engaging social media... not fair for me to say that as I don't know how much time he puts in to his teams prep.

i should probably apologize but won't,
Haha I don't think you need to apologize to anyone. I always view things like if Naz and everyone's favorite Antioch swapped rosters would the old "coach better" line hold any water. For me there is a distinct advantage but that doesn't mean certain things can't be implemented to assist the competitive balance and proper class placement.

LA beat an LWE transfer qb, then a Bollingbrook transfer qb to face York.
If there’s not a football recruit on that York team it’s truly a shame! If you want to claim you're doing everything in your power to make your team excel as a coach, then you need to have someone in the fold( especially in an 8A district) that is willing to help these kids find their homes at the next level if they want to play ball. If they don’t want to do the hard work as coaches then they will continue to lose kids to area public schools as well as privates! Be part of the solution and stop whining about how unfair life is…LIFE IS UNFAIR! It’s how you handle the adversity, move past it, and excel! ESL coaching staff and community should be commended for doing what they do year in and year out for their community, and are an example of doing what others say can’t be done!

I played for Korhonen from 85-89 and am from Oak Lawn. I don’t ever remember him “recruiting”. But I do remember him encouraging all of the tough, athletic, in district kids that were coming to HLR to play football. We did not have anybody outside of Oak Lawn, Chicago Ridge, or Robbins.
He was a dude and you guys were good.

He's not missing it at all. These people don't care about high school sports outside of living vicariously through their kids or the graduating classes 30 years after they left. The forces destroying youth sports have now spread to high school sports via the private schools.

It's slowly being openly admitted that many of these schools would struggle to survive if it wasn't for football. One team is completely changing their recruiting area because too many of the athletes they were getting were scoring poorly in their testing and getting rejected. I've heard comments that the school admin needs to stop being "woke" and have the guts to focus on football.
Wow! Who was that? Thank you for understanding.

Lol. To play at the next level you have to have size and speed. Public schools get what comes through the door. Privates find it. That's why Loyola's entire defense is 6'3" or taller. Just by chance I suppose...

Yes because every defensive player that makes a D1-3 or NFL roster is 6’3”! There’s a number of guys from Illinois playing in the NFL under 6’ 200# at safety for example. Please don’t try to generalize and tell me there are no college program capable players at York, that’s just plain BS!

Per IHSA rules, Korhonan could not recruit even his own district. You must 'recruit' generally and not to one specific sport, activity, etc. So that's illegal. I can't deny that most high school coaches are doing that but that's in one's own district. Now imagine being able to access dozens of districts for their best talent...

There are no clear boundaries for private schools. The rule is 30 mile radius, but a friends address could work. In public schools, you would need to move. If you use a friends address, schools can and will check on you. That would be skirting federal and state tax money. In a private school, it's on the 'honor' system.
i know a family that gave up parental rights and new family was awarded them and district STILL wouldn't allow athlete to participate in a public school so it's difficult in some districts... and they were same district with multiple schools.

This is simply untrue on both sides of your description when my oldest son transferred from a public Naperville school to a private school, he and I had to move, I had to become his sole guardian(court filing), and the public Naperville school still appealed the transfer and it was not formally accepted until reviewed by an adleitum appointed court attorney in Will county.
As mentioned- the family i know extremely well went to court had a court order... guardianship changed and the Supt. still said NO... this was going to court but would have continued to cost $$$$. So the family did the next best thing- they moved within the district and flipped a big middle finger to the Supt. who could just sit on it as he could do nothing but watch.

the reason they put the in waiver was because it was unfair to penalize those privates who are not known as football schools. Originally, it was put in to slow down a handful of CCL’s, JCA, Bishop Mac, Boylan and Driscoll. And it worked pretty good. But if say, the likes of Walther Christian, Elgin St. Ed’s, Aurora Christian or ACC somehow scrape together five wins, do they really deserve to be multiplied?
St.Laurence got screwed out of many probable state championships by being put in a ridiculously higher class for many years

Love LW East but rolling up the score on the little sisters of the poor didn’t impress me. I told all of you back when the ESL Games were going on that East would not beat Loyola & got crucified for my comments but I know my football.I get the frustration that you had a dynamic team yet still could not beat a “down” Loyola team but it is what it is. 2 years in a row Reavis lost to Catholic League teams in the state title games & their Defense gave up 0 points in both games but you either beat the best or you don’t. Nobody there ever said hey woooo we are the Public School Champs

short answer….yes it would still hold water.

Coaches like Racki and his staff are winners because they instill a winning program and culture. What you see on the field is a result of all the work they put in behind the scenes. I’d argue and feel pretty confident that there is not one coaching staff that works harder in the state. 5-4, 4-5 championship runs I think speak to that. Taking a freshman QB who has gotten ZERO recognition in all the Year of the QB talk and ZERO looks from big time programs and developing him into a 3 time state champ and IHSA record holder. Speaks to that fact.

So if you give Racki and his staff the Antioch roster and a year or two you would see a different Antioch. I could guarantee you wouldn’t see any coaches from a Racki staff crying about fairness.

I actually had this conversation with a buddy….I fully believe Racki and crew could leave Naz today go to Morton in Berwyn and make the payoffs in two years. Biggest pool of kids in the state that staff would find 11 to make the playoffs with and maybe in two more years after that they’d be conference contenders because all the kids that go to the Catholic schools instead will see the winning program being built and decide to save the money. Which is why the LWE and MS and CG and PR and Geneva and York and LT and NC are not crying about lack of talent. Winning begets winning. And Racki and his staff have shown since 2006 that winning is possible but you HAVE to work at it.
