NFL free agent Kenny Golladay and St. Rita grad signs with the New York Giants for 72 million. Given the Chicago Bears QB situation I can understand why he did not sign here. Hopefully he can stop by the school and talk to the football team before the end of the football season. He is not the first NFL receiver out of St. Rita. He joins Ahmad Merritt and Tony Simmons who had NFL careers. Not bad for a high school known for running the football. Golladay entered the NFL thru the 2017 draft along with Pat O’Connor now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. O’Connor is also expected stop by the school once he gets his Super Bowl Ring.

Also over the weekend Austin O’Connor another 2017 grad won the NCAA wrestling championship at 149 pounds. I believe that is a first for a St. Rita alum. Austin was a 4 time IHSA champ.

Rita is getting something new with this future donation to the Alma Mater! Great news seeing hometown talent rewarded
I"m very happy for Kenny Golladay. He was one of those players who left it all on the field. No defensive back was ever going to wrestle the ball away from him. Anything he does for the school will be appreciated. I'm just trying to think what at the school hasn't already been named.

St. Rita alumni like MC's are very generous as are most grads from CCL schools. I heard several years ago that the cost of educating a student was actually 3k more then what they charge for tuition. The rest is made up by donations.

And the QB situation and the situation with with the Giants is better? Hell, the Bears beat the Giants last year. It sounds like Golladay is a good kid. I have never had a problem with anyone playing NFL football seeking to make the most money they can. The sport is brutal and most guys suffer aches, pains and a lower quality of life after leaving the game. Good for him.

Not if he stays healthy. Unfortunately, that's a pretty big if.
I would guess they had their Doctor give him a physical and then they worked him out. He was an All-Pro in 2019 and led the league in TDs by a WR. He's one of the lucky ones. Average NFL career is less than 4 years. I think I read that 40 million was guaranteed.

Pretty much all free agents and players undergo a physical before signing a contract. Works that way in other sports too.
