Ref shortage

I know a few of the referees on here have mentioned a bit of this - didn't realize things were this bleak.Having said that, watching/listening to fan behavior at various sports would make me think twice about picking up my whistle if i was an active ref.

As the article says, it will get worse. In California last season, some lower level games were cancelled and not even made up because they had no official to adjudicate them.

Did you notice the comment about 2 in 10 not staying, it is actually worse, The article said 2 years , it can be up to five years where 2 in 10 do not renew.
