We don’t call that a problem. We call that a tradition.Problem isn’t what Catholic schools play in the Prep Bowl, it will always be what CPS teams play cuz every year it seems it gets harder & harder for them to get teams to continue playing
Pro poster tip #2: Exhibit 002: A master class in short, subtle, stinging jabs that land. Well done. Glad the state gave him his phone back.Good luck to St. Rita in the prep bowl playoffs!
No, true story, I forgot my password.Pro poster tip #2: Exhibit 002: A master class in short, subtle, stinging jabs that land. Well done. Glad the state gave him his phone back.
Well then, welcome back. It’s gone soft around here without you.No, true story, I forgot my password.
Here we go with the CPL Talk! Best time of the year. Everyone is talking about the CPL!!Problem isn’t what Catholic schools play in the Prep Bowl, it will always be what CPS teams play cuz every year it seems it gets harder & harder for them to get teams to continue playing
I still think all CPS Conferences should get a shot at the Prep Bowl. If you’re not going to let certain conferences play then they should have their own playoffs. I believe they used to do that years ago. Here we go with the CPL Talk! Best time of the year. Everyone is talking about the CPL!!
They did. When the "Intra-City Conferences" where the equivalent of today's CPL Blue conferences, they had a whole 8-team postseason tournament that ran concurrent with the state playoffs. I'm all for that type of playoff. I'm all for anything to do with more football in the CPL, but I don't agree with the idea that CPL teams don't have any business playing in the IHSA playoffs. CPL Teams compete in every sport. They practice just like everyone else. When it comes to basketball or track season, no CPL fans are saying the rest of the state shouldn't be involved in those tournaments. I get the sentiment, I just don't agree. They did. Those teams didn't, and don't, have any business playing in the state playoffs or against CCL teams. But there is nothing wrong with more football and the chance to play for a championship! If I recall correctly, the semi-finalists of that tournament were promoted to the "Chicago" divisions (now the "white" divisions).
I believe 2007 was the last year they held the tournament, in which Orr beat Farragut in the final.
Semis: Orr over Tilden, Farragut over Payton
Quarters: Orr over Kennedy, Tilden over Uplift, Payton over Raby, Farragut over Chicago Academy
In 2006, it was Austin over Senn for the championship.
After 2007 they just played a 10th cross-conference game to end the season. It looks like none of these tournaments ever got recorded in the IHSA's records, but the results are all on maxpreps.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk!
Just to be clear, I don't mean CPL teams broadly, but the ones that currently are not involved in the playoffs (The "Blue" conferences).I'm all for that type of playoff. I e-mailed all the schools who didn’t get in the playoffs. Not all responded but most. Iggy said they’re playing but Sunday they will figure things out after round 1. I think any CCL teams still in state after round 2 can’t get in Prep Bowl Playoffs although I think a time or 2 they have. Would love to see a few games this week like maybe Leo vs Notre Dame or Providence Catholic vs Carmel plus Non playoff CPS teams playing each other. But I love football so maybe I’m selfishI'm sure I'll get told this has been covered before but can any of the current CCL teams participate?
I see Viator declined so that makes me think it has been opened up?
