It’s a little bit of a look ahead with both still having to take care of business this weekend but I was able to catch some of Cary grove games online and I can’t help but wonder if them losing the fullback will matter in a match with estl because seems they are trying to get the edge much more now and that’s a recipe for disaster against estl

Yes, yes - losing one of your best players does indeed matter in a big time matchup.

I said before that won’t work but they’ll have a plan. Not saying it’ll work but I wouldn’t hang my hat solely on what they are doing now. Need to get by Geneva first, which will be tough.

You are WAY ahead of yourself here boss. Geneva has a fantastic team this year and can certainly beat CG.

Anything is possible this is high school football, Geneva will have their hands full, will have to score time they touch the ball.
Correct, I don’t think Geneva will be able to stop the option, CG coaches will have that defense prepared. But let’s wait to have this ESL vs CG conversation at about 4-5pm Saturday idk what time ESL plays at.

Well it’s not really up for debate. He’s the #2 ranked player in the state and going to Georgia.

I wasn’t referring to the best player on the field. I’m just saying theirs a higher possibility for CG defense to stop Geneva offense than Geneva stopping the option.

I’m seem to remember LB3 being the best WR in state and CG faired well. Anything can happen right?
Ehh that’s a stretch because burden almost single-handedly won that game to be completely honest Cary grove has been about a play or two away from losing those games but that’s a conversation for another day

Sure but CG also wasn’t supposed to have any chance to win that game. Should have been a blowout.

single handedly is a stretch too for LB3, only WR who I’ve seen single handedly beat CG was the man the myth the legend Laquan Tredwell who was the #1 WR in the country. He destroyed CG in the 2012 state title game and that was a very good CG team. Superman from PR as well but he had the ball every play as he was the QB

A team wins a lot of games to get to state. Anyone who says a team has no chance in a title game is tripping.
Maybe from your camp, the sentiment wasn’t that CG didn’t have a chance. You guys respect your opponents as do we. But in that first matchup in 2021, nobody from the media and many on this board gave CG no chance. In fact many suggested CG stay home. That’s all I’m saying.

I will say CG’s offensive line is a nasty bunch. Country strong as Hawk Harrelson would say. It’ll be a great battle with Geneva in the trenches.

In all honesty, first two matchups I didn’t want to say CG would win as I thought the 1st one was a perfect game then the 2nd matchup seemed like a perfect game as well. On paper ESL should win 6a, but what we learned was that the option really has given ESL trouble. I think the hardest part for ESL is teaching the players how to defend it. That’s why I’ve asked fellow ESL guys on here how many guys are back on defense from last years team, bc I feel that has a big impact. ESL has a lot of talent to stop them a couple times solely with really good athletes and not having to play option teams in the past or schedule, that’s how good their athletes are. Coach seaburg has them running the option so efficiently and with discipline with so much detail.

This years defense is probably one of the better defenses I’ve seen them have especially discipline wise very fast as usual if the fullback being gone impacts the yards after contact I could see estl getting a decent amount of stops if that matchup does happen

I think CG’s O-Line this year is better than last years state team. That might be the reason why they haven’t had any setbacks offensively with their FB being out since week 5
