Putting too many different options on the ballot will only confuse people. This almost seems like the IHSA needs to do an Iowa style caucus with a representative from every football school...
Ok, if your preference is...
We don't care...go to the middle of the floor
We want districts...go to that corner
We want what we have now...go to that corner
We want everybody in the playoffs...go to that corner
We want playoff expansion, but not everybody in...go to that corner
Did I miss any options?
Then wean it down...okay, the smallest group is ___________, you lose. Pick your next choice. Sadly, we don't care could be one of the bigger groups...what if we don't care is big enough for it plus each of the other 4 to be the majority (i.e. 1/3 don't care, 1/6 wants districts, 1/6 wants what we have now, 1/6 wants everybody in playoffs, 1/6 wants playoff expansion)? Okay, at least then you would know some sort of playoff expansion is the preference...
Maybe this is a weight the choice ballot...
Assign 5 points to your favorite, 4 to your second favorite, 3 to your 3rd favorite...etc...
