Truth is CG needs the big fullback to counter the option. Losing him is huge. If, and I stress if CG makes it that far they can’t beat ESL on speed and slight of hand. You need the big guy to chip away and eat the clock. I’m not giving away any secrets as that’s what worked before. I also don’t want to look that far ahead and discredit others in the north. Geneva and Libertyville have a damn good chance of being there. I just feel bad for the kid.CG will keep rolling. They will still make it to the championship.
Yes, I hate that for the kid. Rehab is not easy.Truth is CG needs the big fullback to counter the option. Losing him is huge. Not a 230 pounder. They seem to reincarnate these fullbacks year after year, I'm guessing they have another one or two in the pipeline
Which makes a difference! It also takes time to gel with a replacement. I'm sure the kids will rise to the occasion and perform at their best. That's all you can ask.Not a 230 pounder.
Most championship teams have a culture that no player is bigger than the team. That is a standard. Regardless of culture, impact players are impact players otherwise teams with great cultures will win championships EVERY year. What is the deciding factor when both teams have the same culture? In most years, there is a game or two during the championship run that the impact players have to perform at a certain level to get you a championship. Football is the ultimate team sport however to suggest that anyone can do anything is false. Special players do exist on great teams. No doubt its a big loss, but CG will do what CG does. Next man up, they have won with big FB like Abrams, Norberg, Pennington, and they won with smaller FBs like Blake Skol and Eric Chandler. The toughest part is making sure that the mesh from the QB and the FB is right.
Everyone wants to give the credit for CGs success to their style of offense, and that is certainly part of it, but the style of Offense is part of their overall culture that no one is bigger than the team, and that culture is defined and enforced by the players as much or more than it is by the coaches.
