Great land for NIU today in getting a verbal from Isaac Hawn. Hawn, who is a home schooled kid will stay close to home and play for NIU.
I was able to watch Hawn up close last Wednesday and was highly impressed with his camp performance at the NCC satellite camp with the Iowa State coaches. Hawn might just be one of the most pissed off and downright nasty home schooled kids I can ever remember..and yes that's a very good thing.
Hawn showed a great motor, has size and length and moves very well for his size. Hawn was at times dominating in one on ones and goes hard in every rep.
I saw some real upside and potential in Hawn after this camp and I feel he has mid level Big Ten ability.
Hawn no question will play tackle for NIU and the MAC and could no question be one of those NIU "steals" down the road. Hawn, who I also saw live in 2015 was just a completely looking player last Wednesday and Hawn has really developed his game.
Downside? I mean how will Hawn adjust socially at NIU etc but those are also the same issues facing any incoming freshman so....
Love the "get" for NIU here.
