The difference here is downplaying JCA's chances against Naz is based on recent results. When was the last time JCA beat Naz? I'm guessing it's 2015. That was Julian Love's Sr. year. JCA won the regular season matchup and lost to Naz in the playoffs. It's been awhile.

Fairly certain 2012 was OT thriller at JCA.
2013 was the Ivlow game where JCA absolute curb stomped Naz.
2014 Is when the dynasty began. Naz got over JCA hump.
In 2015 JCA beat Naz in the regular season in a wild affair. 38-35 I believe. Naz got revenge in playoffs. Roadrunners have been quite the thorn in JCA’s side going 7-1 vs JCA in the last 10 years.
It’s extremely difficult to beat a good team twice in a season. Naz has their work cut out for them. JC has gotten better since they last played and theyre out to even the score. Advantage JC

JC had just beaten Marist the week before the Naz game. If they’ve gotten better, then they’re darn good.
Agreed, changes how JCA will have to defend Naz. I’m not sure how Naz stops JCA run game but on the flip side I don’t know how JCA can defend Naz pass game. It’ll be a fun finale.
were they missing the rb/lb with the U of I offer against SF? he's stood out this year out even playing next to kaminski. injury?
Ooo here’s something cool…Naz was 0-2 pre Racki that brings the Naz/JCA head to head to 9-8 with JCA holding the slight edge and a chance for Naz to tie it up….let’s not talk state titles though we are chipping away.
Damn, I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I want to see both teams at full strength. It should be a great game.
Naz ran the fake punt this time that led to their first TD in quarter 1. I just think Naz is the better team that didn't play well in week 9. Tough for any team to win with 4 turnovers, regardless of how good your offense might be.
I don’t have any issue with the fake punt Francis ran in week 9. It was the absolute right call at the right time. Naz was about to run away with it and not only did it completely change momentum and keep Francis in the game they won! I also do not have any issue with Naz for Francis running fake punts Saturday. Both worked and therefore were the right calls lol.
I have a little issue with Francis calling reverses, throwbacks etc etc but that’s on them to make that decision. The reason I have a slight issue is because I don’t think they need to rely on that stuff. They are just as talented as Naz, but when it works like it did week 9 it’s genius. When it doesn’t like this past weekend it’s not such a good call.
I don’t mean this as a slight to SF by any means but I think Naz’s coaching staff is better. 9 rings gives me a damn good argument. I knew Racki would have adjustments and the team motivated for the rematch. There was no question in my mind Naz would play well and play inspired. Francis looked like a team that was tight and hasn’t been over the hump yet, Naz was confident, cocky even. They expected to win and didn’t waiver because that’s what they’ve done, win. Francis will get there and probably very soon but it wasn’t gonna be this year at the expense of this Naz team and coaching staff.
I think this is a very fair analysis. McMillen acknowledged in the postgame comments that SF as a program has to take the next step this offseason. They were tight, and as a result not nearly physical as they needed to be in a game like this. Agree with the criticism of the “Philly special” call to end the first half - just try and get the ball to Washington.
The key nail in the coffin that game was after SF ran back the opening kick in the 2nd half to make it 20-14, Naz answering immediately with a kickoff return of their own. Deflating is an understatement.
I was very confident going in but I’m not gonna lie I was incredibly nervous when Washington took back that kick. Naz needed that answer really bad.
Btw how on earth could Naz screw up and kick it to him? Flashbacks to Samson Evans circa 2017.
From my experience teams that run all those trick plays realizes that they are out matched and need to find momentum in other ways. They ran them Week 9 and it worked out for them, this time it did not. If both teams played straight up, I think Naz wins 9 out of 10 times. Both teams are overly talented, but SF is young playing a group of 6 starters that have 3 years of Varsity experience. Seniors' vs inexperienced players, leads to more victories this time of the year.
