The Huskies(19-4, 9-3) pulled to within two games of the DVC leading Redhawks(20-3, 11-1) with today's 12-10 victory. NN outfielders Mike Fattore and Bobby Daly were injured after colliding in the 5th inning. Both were taken to the hospital.

kind of a random question, but do you know how andrew arenson is playing? I played against and now with his brother, and his brother might be looking at a CCIW pitcher of the year award at North Central College

heard my tigers are struggling as well, 2007 was such a fun year for us as a baseball team

Re: But the bad news is...

The Huskies were thumped today by Waubonsie Valley 14-0...not a nice way to get geared up for the stretch run ...

Anyway, it's gonna be an exciting finish ...the Huskies really imploded Saturday in that critical DH loss...that unfortunately could've very well costed them the outright 'Valley title, but they could still get a piece if things work out right.... Central didn't do much better today in their non conference game with the Andrean 59'ers from Indiana losing 12-3...Tomorrow the Redhawks start a 3 game series (H A H) vs Wheaton North..Next Monday they begin a 3 game set (A H A) with West Chicago ...then a week later a series (H A H) with Glenbard North..before finishing up with Downers Grove North..Somewhere in all of this they have a makeup game with Neuqua Valley from last Friday to play..NV and WV split a DH last Saturday with the Warriors dropping the first game 3-2, and winning the second 5-4...Waubonsie is looking pretty good in the Upstate...

The Huskies will start a series (A H A) with Glenbard East tomorrow , then next Monday a 3 game set (H A H) with Wheaton North, and finish a week later with a 3 game set (H A H) with West Chicago then finishing with a non-con vs Plainfield Central...

Thursday and Friday the IHSA releases the 4A regional and sectional seeds & pairings...

Should be some interesting games...

Meaningless

The non-conference games are pretty meaningless at this stage. You want to save your best pitchers for the conference games(can't afford to lose any more of those). What separates NC from NN this year(and probably all other teams) is NC's superior(and deep) pitching staff. This gives the Redhawks a big advantage in the single-elimination playoffs.

Re: Meaningless

True they are meaningless NN....but you and I both know that it's a sure bet that the 204 Indian Prairie teams WV & NV will most certainly cross paths with the 203 programs come post season,a nd that result yesterday could be a "too be continued later" situation.....Central beat Waubonsie 9-1 very early in the season. However the DVC stretch is at hand,a nd you got...you can't lose anymore of those...here is no easy path for anyone at that point.

Re: Meaningless

The obvious way to beat Naperville North is to use a left handed starting pitcher. In their last 17 innings against lefties, they have only scored 2 runs. Not going to win many games that way.

Fortunately for Central we have our choice of two pretty good lefties, as seen last Saturday.

Re: Meaningless

i know its counterintuitive but a deep pitching staff means absolutely nothing in high school when the playoffs start with single elimination. all u really need is 2-3 good pitchers. With double elim(like it should be) it would matter.

Redhawks nip Falcons

Huge win over Wheaton North Wednesday. Falcons need to win both remaining games in series, otherwise nobody will catch the Redhawks. NN and WN still have to play each other, both are two games behind NC.

Re: Redhawks nip Falcons

Redhawks turned back Falcons 4-3 at Central...

Central Pitcher Mason Hallett tossed his second straight complete game allowing three runs on only four hits and struck out four for the Redhawks. P Ed Norris went the distance for Wheaton North and allowed two earned runs on nine hits andstruck out five.

Both Nick Linne and Ryan Walsh had two hits and an RBI for Central.

Down 4-1 the Falcons scored two runs in the top of the fourth off a bloop two-run double to right-center from Reece Butler, which cut the lead to 4-3, however Hallett didn't allow a baserunner to get past first base the rest of the way.

Game 2 today at Falcon Field 430.

Re: Redhawks nip Falcons

Central completes their three game sweep of Wheaton North 2-0 on Saturday. Shane Conlon should have had a perfect game. The only runner he allowed was a misjudged routine fly ball in the top of the 7th.

In 12 1/3 innings against Central's lefties, Wheaton North got two hits. One of them was the misjudged fly ball today, the other hit the pitcher Ludwig on the foot knocking him out of the game Thursday.
