Monticello 23-20 final

Please tell me someone else saw this
I randomly started watching it because some other games were just getting over, I tuned in right when Monticello was driving with 3 min left in the game, I was amazed with their QB throwing darts all the way down field to score with 6 seconds left. Then the ending was unreal with the one second left Hail Mary touchdown by Unity, then called back on penalty and game over! Monticello deserved to win that game with that drive they had and kept getting penalties moved back but still moved forward. To score, great passes by quarterback truly impressed with him.

Not according to this NFHS rule.

NFHS Rule 3-3-3:

A period must be extended by an untimed down if, during the last timed down of the period, one of the following occurred:

a. There was a foul by either team and the penalty is accepted, except for those fouls listed in 3-3-4b.
What DrMac is saying is the crew got another ‘last play of the game’ wrong again. While the penalty for an ineligible player downfield was flagged correctly, enforcement of the penalty was incorrect. The pass was caught in the end zone…if the defense declines, the catch counts and the game is over…if the defense accepts the penalty for an ineligible, then the offense gets one untimed down, because Ineligible Downfield is NOT a Loss of Down penalty.
So they gave Plainfield North an unwarranted extra play on a loss of down penalty and took one away from Unity.

Wonder how this formation happened. TE just simply line up in the wrong spot?

How did no one from Tolono correct it?

If I had to guess the Tight End was lined up on the wrong side. OR the trips bunch were all supposed to be off the line.

If the trips was supposed to all be off then that’s an illegal formation as well.

Only thing that makes sense to me is the TE was supposed to stay in for added protection.

Youre right. Guessing tight end should've been on the opposite side. Either way brutal way to lose after you make a big play like that.

I would agree - how can most little schools compete with a team that should be in 5A-6A class. IHSA is flawed
Idk about 5A-6A right now. Montini at their peak was winning there. They are definitely on the rise though, and they are very hard to stop. They are big and fast and the QB throws a great ball.
Keep in mind, Byron did almost get them.

Monticello gonna have to get creative.
