One of the computer rating systems is going to be wrong. While CalPreps has Wilmington a 3-point favorite over Montini (as shown in this thread), Massey is predicting a 34-14 victory for Montini.

Wow! Now I know gambletron has thought very highly of Naz all year and I’ve seen some pretty crazy spreads but I think this one is not only crazy it’s completely backwards. Naz has to be at the very least a 2 score home dog this weekend.

Notre Dame (Niles, IL) at St. Ignatius (Chicago, IL) Fri., Nov. 22, 7:00 pm
Iggy Covers in this one.

Wilmington (12-0) at Lombard (Montini) (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 1:00 pm
Give me points and Bronco all day and twice on Sunday.

Chicago (DePaul) (9-3) at Coal City (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 1:00 pm
DePaul rolls onto the 9A errrr 4A title game.

Wheaton (St. Francis) (10-2) at LaGrange Park (Nazareth Academy) (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 1:00 pm
I will gladly take the point and Sparty but tucs wins and heads to Normal for a rematch with JCA.

Morris (8-4) at Joliet (Catholic Academy) (9-3), Sat., Nov. 23, 2:00 pm
JCA covers and has a rematch with tucs.

Chicago (Mt. Carmel) (9-3) at Chicago (St. Rita) (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 3:00 pm
I will go with my 2nd favorite CCL team, 'Stangs with the points.

Wilmette (Loyola Academy) (10-2) at Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East) (12-0), Sat., Nov. 23, 6:00 pm
Ramblers and the points.

Some surprising spreads from Gambletron this week. I might be able to get more than 1 right. Hope springs eternal.

Ignatius -14....picking these Prep Bowl games is a bit like picking the games in the last week of the NFL season. Who is actually trying to win?
Montini +3...what was Gambletron smoking in coming up with this spread?
DePaul +4....Gambletron still with some altered perception on this one?
St Francis +13....seems like too many points. Rivalry game played a second time. Should be close.
Morris +35....can Morris compete at the LOS? They didn't last year. IF the compete better, they will cover this spread.
Rita +10....another rivalry game played a second time. MC's pass defense is very suspect. Does Rita have the passing game to exploit that? Rita's defense is stout, but MC will score. Can Rita score enough to keep this one close and possibly pull it out at the end? I like their chances at home. (Hopefully, that's not the kiss of death for the Mustangs).
LWE -7....went into this expecting to take LA and the points. But, I thought the spread would be higher. Just seems like a tall order for the Ramblers in Frankfort only getting 7. This LWE team just seems too good.

Thanks for putting these together! I've been busy the last couple months so haven't been able to participate as much as I want.

However... I'm recently married so I feel I might have gained a clairvoyance around CCL spreads.

Iggy -14
Montini +3
DePaul +4
St Francis +13
Morris +35
Rita +10
LA +7
Congratulations on getting married. We will see you more often around these parts. Bathroom time increases directly proportional to length of marriage. I’ve been married a long while

Saint Ignatius 24 Notre Dame 10 (+14): I don't know what to say about the Prep Bowl Catholic Finals other than I hope everyone has fun

Montini 23 (+3) Wilmington 21: . This may be the Environment of the Week. If this game was under the lights, I may have taken Wilmington, but I am staying true to my Catholic Faith and going with the Broncos. This really could be an all time classic.

DePaul Prep 35 (+4) Coal City 24: Now I may be saying something foolish here, but is Coal City actually better than St. Laurence? DePaul has been battle tested and Coal City has not played much competition and they lost to the 2 decent teams they have played.

Nazareth 34 Saint Francis 28 (+13): My Lord in Heaven...history has repeated itself a second straight year! And it will repeat in similar fashion when the Roadrunners clip the Spartans again.

Joliet Catholic 35 Morris 10 (-35): One of the State's great playoff rivalries renewed! Unfortunately for the Redskins, they don't have the Jimmy's and Joe's this year to compete with the Joliet Machine.

Saint Rita 30 (+10) Mount Carmel 28: GOTW! I was such a buffoon when I questioned St. Rita in week 2 when they didn't pack 79th and Western and got whooped up by the Brown. Since that game, it seems like both teams have been on opposite trajectories (Relax Caravan, you're not down sliding, you're just not yourselves). I am expecting this to be an all time classic in this Mount Rushmore rivalry and I am taking the Ponies to end years of playoff frustration against MC.

Lincoln Way East 32 (-7) Loyola 21: I see this being a close contest into the 4th quarter with LWE covering late. Loyola has too much pedigree to let this not be a close game, but LWE has been essentially the undisputed best team all year and I just don't see their season stopping now.

NND +14 I'm officially on the Don bandwagon. I think their game matches up well vs Iggy and we are treated to an exciting back and forth affair

Montini +3 The line reminds me of when my Pops ran a confidence pool at the tavern for the neighborhood degens back in the day with the teaser spread for the College bowl games. You'd think swinging a line 10 points was easy pickings. It was not.

DeP +4 Not exactly confident with the Rams being on the road but they have had an exceptional year and cannot see it ending this weekend.

Naz -13 Hurts me to do this to my new Spartan friends but taking the 'runners seniors at home over the young St. Francis squad. I will justify it to my new friends by telling them I am only doing this to counteract Tuccs Holtzian posts this week.

JCA -35 I am done going opposite the Hilltoppers. They are rough and tumble to the outside looking in but actually explosive enough to keep crushing these spreads each week

MC -10 A little recency bias has infected a handful of pickers out there in Edgyland between St. Rita's impressive third quarter vs Quincy and Mt. Carmel's closer-than-expected shave vs the Ironmen last weekend. Hoping it's a close game into the 4th quarter and if it is, Mt. Carmel has proven they don't mind scoring all the way up to the 0:00 mark. So a backdoor cover is always in play even if the action on the field is more of a slobber-knocker

LA +7 No team has benefitted more from a week one opponent than the Ramblers have from their Flyer drubbing in August. Will they win, who knows, but they are better today than nearly 3 months ago

The following question is posed merely as a matter of curiosity. Why do people on this thread periodically refer to Gambletron, when the predictions come from CalPreps?

What. The. Heck. My whole life has been a lie. No way. Out with your blasphemy. Its full name is actually Gambletron 3000 tho. So there.

Ouch! I’m human you know! When I get cut I bleed 😢

I like your pick though 😉

Going against your own team. FredoSoup. Take your shitty playlist to another teams box next year. Think that was inevitable anyways.

Semifinal weekend and look at all the games we have to pick. We CCL fans are truly lucky! Unfortunately, we are guaranteed the end of at least three CCL team's seasons this weekend. Let's hope that's it!

Dons +14 vs Iggy. Who know who will / won't be playing for these squads. I think it'll be low scoring and hard hitting. Wouldn't be surprised to see a PUSH, but I'll go ND to cover. Iggy 27-14.

Montini +3 vs Wilmington. Broncos getting points at home? Sure, I'll take that. Montini continues to roll. Broncos 31-21.

DePaul +4 vs Coal City. Huge win for the Rams last week. Their first state title is within reach now and the Coalers won't be able to do much to stop it. DePaul 40-21.

WSF +13 vs Naz. Shocked at this spread. Did the Gambletron not take into account the fact that the Spartans just beat the Roadrunners a few weeks ago? Odd. Expect a similar game, but Naz pulls it off this time. Nazareth 38-31.

Morris +35 vs JCA. Far too big of a spread for these rivals. How many times have these schools faced off in the state playoffs? Seems like every year. Hilltoppers win and set up the nightmare ALL CATHOLIC SCHOOL FINAL! JCA 35-14.

Rita +10 vs MC. Quabbled on this one for a bit, but Rita looked really strong last week. I think they keep this one within striking distance all game. Caravan 28-24.

LWE -7 vs Loyola. Ramblers D does all it can, but it won't be enough. We will argue all offseason about who would have won a ESL / LWE showdown. Griffins 31-20.

Iggy -14 Iggy 35 ND 7
Montini +3 Montini 34 Wilmington 21 Very interesting line here. Has Wilmington played anyone besides Coal City?
DePaul +4 Depaul 35 Coal City 14 Again has Coal City played anyone besides Morris and Wilmington?
SF +13 Naz 34 St Francis 24 Close for awhile
Morris +35 JCA 38 Morris 14 just too many points
MC -10 MC 21 St. Rita 10
LWE -7 LWE 27 Loyola 19 Tough one... Loyola is playing very well, just think its LWE year.

Notre Dame (Niles, IL) at St. Ignatius (Chicago, IL) Fri., Nov. 22, 7:00 pm
Watching these two teams scoring points in the postseason is a mystery. Not a chemistry test. Dons should cover.

Wilmington (12-0) at Lombard (Montini) (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 1:00 pm
Wilmo's only chance is to catch a ride home on that pregame horse. Broncos.

Chicago (DePaul) (9-3) at Coal City (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 1:00 pm
Only chance DePaul loses is if they get distracted by the licentious women of that disreputable town. Rams.

Wheaton (St. Francis) (10-2) at LaGrange Park (Nazareth Academy) (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 1:00 pm
No reasonable person not afflicted by disease believes St Francis has a chance. Roadrunners.

Morris (8-4) at Joliet (Catholic Academy) (9-3), Sat., Nov. 23, 2:00 pm
The tribe will be on the warpath, looking to collect a scalp. No luck, Tonto. Hilltoppers.

Chicago (Mt. Carmel) (9-3) at Chicago (St. Rita) (10-2), Sat., Nov. 23, 3:00 pm
A century from now, they'll still be talking of how the Mustangs managed to cover.

Wilmette (Loyola Academy) (10-2) at Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East) (12-0), Sat., Nov. 23, 6:00 pm
80 thousand simulations of this game have been run and statisticians, both amateur and professional, have determined that there is no reason for this game to be contested. Yet, I have my doubts. We're overdue for an earthquake. There's a chance that sporadic wind gusts disrupt the consensus greatest QB ever. Out of charity for alma and a hope that mercy is shown, Ramblers.

Naz just figured the "we're going to state" team picture will look better for Franny on green turf but you're right it was pretty gracious of them.

Iggy -14- I'm thinking its a push but I'll go with the battle tested Iggy.

Montini +3- Absolutely taking points here.

DePaul +4- Playing the stronger schedule will help the Rams here.

Naz -13. I like them by 14.

Morris +35- Agree with most that the spread is way too big for a rivalry game. JCA wins comfortably but not that comfortably.

MC -10- Lot of thought into this one. 2022 Semi sticks in my mind. In 2022 MC won the first game 35-3....MC was very lucky to win that Semi Final game.....that was a better Rita team but that was also a better MC team. I've been around long enough to know that History doesn't automatically repeat itself, and I know a team can be pumped to high Heaven but that will only take you through kickoff. MC won the first game 28-0, with the last 7 points coming very late in the game. I like MC 27-14 in this with the last 7 points for MC also coming late. Several factors will come into play as far as turnovers and mistakes but head up I think MC wins but not easily.

LWE -7. At home, all world QB, all the revenge motivation needed.....if it doesn't happen this year......I like LWE by 14 but this will be the biggest defensive challenge they have faced this year.
