Always good for discussion/debate : )

Because school enrollment is not considered a factor at all on this list, I think one of the better ways to look at this is to say it is a list in Order of teams most likely to win a state title this fall in whatever class they are in.
With that as the starting point, that looks like a pretty solid list.

Max must be drinking when he's writing his team previews. It's been five years but he still has Frank Lenti as head coach of the Caravan.

No IL team in the top 100 but there is this:

6. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore)
Baltimore power will have one of the toughest schedules of all-time with matchups against No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), No. 3 St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), No. 4 IMG Academy (Brandeton, Fla.), No. 7 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) and No. 10 Buford (Ga.).

51. Atascocita (Humble, Texas)
The only three losses for the Eagles last season came against Katy and North Shore. Tory Blaylock, Braylon Conley, Zion Brown and Nate Kibble are all back after the 11-3 season.

Does MadMax have any individuals that actually watch Illinois HS football games? I think most posters here would fare better in ranking the teams. Don't even respect the AP rankings because of the lazy, half hearted effort from so many writers . Only Tim covers the state top to bottom, attends three/ four games per week and talks to the coaches (dozens) on a regular basis. That ROC list is the only one that carries any weight IMO.

MaxPreps is an online media company that is user driven. It relies on coaches directly uploading information related to their teams. Therefore, any information related to scores, rosters, or coaching staffs is only as accurate as the information provided by each individual school's coaches. MaxPreps itself has very few employees. If information related to a coaching staff is outdated, it is because the individual school has not provided MaxPreps with the new information. Needless to say, this can become a serious flaw in terms of the accuracy of information provided on the MaxPreps website because no school is under any obligation to provide updated information to MaxPreps.

The rankings (ratings) displayed on the MaxPreps website are the product of proprietary computer software. It uses the same ratings that CalPreps uses. Both of those sites (MaxPreps and CalPreps) use the Freeman ratings, which, in turn, were created and are operated by an individual named Ned Freeman. According to the CalPreps website, Ned Freeman has 45 years of experience related to the calculation of the Freeman ratings.

MaxPreps is owned by CBS Sports, which is a division of CBS Broadcasting Inc. The parent company of CBS Broadcasting Inc. is Paramount Global Entertainment. MaxPreps generates revenue from the advertisements one sees on its website.
