Maine South @ Warren tonight

I don't know MS schedule but Warren will have no issue making the playoffs even if they start 0-2.

Status on MS QB1? I believe Michael O'Brien called his injury "serious" but haven't heard a peep outside of that.

Warren is a lock to make the playoffs win or lose tonight. In the past 6 seasons, in North Suburban Conference play, the Devils are 38-3.
We might have actually kind of whiffed on a stat last fall when they lost to Lake Zurich in league play. It snapped a 30-game league winning streak (including 6-0 in the 2020 spring season).
Warren is almost assuredly going 5-2 or better in the NSC this fall, and a wager you will have a near-impossible time finding is anyone willing to wager a nickel that the Devils will go no better than 4-3.
A 4-3 conference record, of course, would meet Warren is in a must-win tonight vs. Maine South, and we maybe can talk again about a must-win when Warren is sitting on 4 losses with four games to play (Mundelein, Waukegan, Lake Forest and Zion-Benton).
Maybe.

Just rebuilding from what I can see. 16 or so sophomores up. I think they only had 3-4 returners from last year. Figured this year might be a bumpy ride but they should benefit from this in the long run.
Maybe it is Libertyville's turn this year. Should be a competitive NSC anyway.

I don’t know how good the NSC is overall, but inside the conference the race for the top spot should be fun. Gets started next week with Lib at Warren and Stv LZ

How does a school the size of Warren have 16 sophs up? Unless they are playing seems like a total waste of a year.

Most of them are. And size of school has zero to do with output on the field. Seems this discussion comes up every year.

Warren is a quasi-private for the Waukegan, ZB, and North Chicago districts, but is someone picking Warrens pocket talent wise?

Six Flags after they eliminated the summer-long meal plan and hiked the prices is no longer the babysitter of northeast Lake County.

Large schools with strong programs have depth so you tend to see very few Sophs on the varsity outside of super studs. Warren isn’t Waukegan.
This isn’t anything new. They play sophomores every year. Three of the starters on the 2019 team played as sophs regularly. School size does not equate to on field success.

Agree with LakeCityNewt, depends on the class/players. I know Palatine had 6 sophomores starting on varsity last year, and this year they had 5 sophs starting against SCN.

16 sophs up would explain why MS beat them 53-0 last night.

With Libertville, Stevenson and Lake Zurich on the horizon, could Warren go 0-5?

Hey Newt
Don’t want to pile on but I disagree. School size does have a lot to do with success. The more players the more depth the team has. Now yes you do need talent. Yes! There is a reason top programs don’t rebuild they just reload. There is a difference. If you watch LWE year after year their 2nd string gets as much playing time as the starters. Many on the site have said some years East could field 2 teams and they would both make the playoffs. Coach Z has his players ready year after year because he gets those younger players serious real varsity playing time.

I wish you guys the best the rest of the season, I am sure Warren will right the ship. Good Warren!! Much respect to your program.
