Maine South @ Warren tonight

Seriously, sight unseen, Barrington and Maine South are way way way way better than any team Warren is going to play during their conference season.
According to Massey ratings, after Week 1, Barrington was No. 29 and Maine South was No. 20.
Lake Zurich (39) Warren (43) Libertyville (51) Stevenson (52) Lake Forest (56) Mundelein (139)
Zion-Benton (180) Waukegan (268).
So Warren has lost to two teams in the top 30 and plays one more game this fall against a team currently rated higher than the Devils.
Somebody is trying to pump up Mundelein? Really? And the last time the. Mustangs beat the Devils was in ..... was in....was in ... is never the correct answer?

Hey Newt
Don’t want to pile on but I disagree. School size does have a lot to do with success. The more players the more depth the team has. Now yes you do need talent. Yes! There is a reason top programs don’t rebuild they just reload. There is a difference. If you watch LWE year after year their 2nd string gets as much playing time as the starters. Many on the site have said some years East could field 2 teams and they would both make the playoffs. Coach Z has his players ready year after year because he gets those younger players serious real varsity playing time.

I wish you guys the best the rest of the season, I am sure Warren will right the ship. Good Warren!! Much respect to your program.

Here is where the argument on large enrollment falls flat. Two of the largest enrollments in the state are Morton and Lane. New trier is close to that list as well. None of those teams will be confused with elite programs in the state

Agreed that’s where coaching comes into play. There is no guarantee just because you have a lot of kids etc that you’re guaranteed to have a winning program. Look at Lockport and all the years they spent trying to get back to winning while having a ton of kids. It’s not ever a guarantee, but if you have a good coach, that gets the community involved and learns to grow the younger players by playing them whenever he can year after year then you build a winning program. You can do this by having more players at your disposal. Small schools don’t have this luxury. Sure you may have a down year, but overall a down year will still be pretty good and the following year will most likely be great.
