Palatine, IL
Palatine's taking the road trip to Minooka next week. I'm a storm chasing geek who's lived in Palatine for 30+ years, so my exposure to Minooka is stopping there for gas when heading west on I-80 and what I learned from Colbert.

Google Maps shows an old, grass field with minimal away bleachers, but based on Edgytim posts I've seen it sounds like the field has been totally updated and the old home stands are now the visitor stands? Edgy also said leave early for a Friday night game - what else should I know?

I would recommend stopping by Cookie's before the game if it's a night game.

Most overrated placein a food desert…….I say try Hero’s West on 80 in Joliet Pretty good bar food only 5-10;minutes from the high school
IMO Hero's has gone down the tubes......They used to have an expansive menu and now it leaves much to be desired

Agree not as good as before but Cookies? No
I have been to cookies only once. I felt like I was in a Wisconsin Supper Club in 1973. the food was ok. I agree, it's overrated. Maybe it's because I have ate at these places before and it's not new, but that area is lacking in the food arena.

Have some money put aside for a wheel alignment as I 55 south and the short stretch of I80 you will travel on are in worse shape than the Oregon Trail.
Yep.. I-55 from 355 to about Weber Rd is like the backstretch at Indy, and I-80 @ I-55, I swear, is never NOT under construction..

I would error on the side of an hour and a half to two hours. Source: lived in Plainfield while I was working in Palatine.
This is the correct answer. 355 and 55 will not be fun at that time.

Dock Rotz bar and grill still any good? Haven’t been there in a while but used to be a good stop for a burger/sandwich and a beer or two or three.

Haven't been there in a few years....Pete's Public House opened up in the Twin Rails building and is pretty good. Also have Wings Etc behind Starbucks and Taco Bell thats not bad either

It all depends....and bring some of those just in case.....the amount of road construction is just silly....hopefully the timing will be with you..
Will you be covering your hometown team on Friday night? You haven’t seen the Pirates in a looooong time.

No I have a self imposed 30 mile rule....meaning I won't go near 30 miles of that game since let's just say the home team hasn't fared well over the past 4-5 times I've been in person....and ironically I have the opposite effect on several other areas teams....

All the more reason to cover it! :)
