TOO MANY WORDS.... Hence, the explanation gets it's own comment.

Every Monday, I bracket the 256 playoff teams using the IHSA Playoff Outlook. This is NOT a prediction. These are NOT my opinions. It is simply the most logical way the playoffs would be bracketed, using the IHSA's specific system, if today's standings were the final standings.

Each week I usually have to add/subtract teams to get a true 256. The Outlook doesn't adjust for the teams ineligible for the playoffs from the CPS "Chicago" conferences (teams who finish 3rd place and lower). The Outlook doesn't adjust for a conference champion falling below the cutoff. I take care of all that before proceeding.

My adjustments.....

I pulled Orr (2A) and Urban Prep/West (3A) out of the playoffs because of the CPS "Chicago" conference rule. The IHSA already pulled out North Lawndale, Collins, and Julian for the same reason. (I think Orr and Urban Prep/West still have a chance to finish in the top two, while the other three teams have clinched 3rd place or worse). I didn't have to insert anyone because every conference had at least one qualifier per the Outlook.

The tie-breaker is not so easy this week. 6 teams were tied for the final 2 spots at 4-4/38. They were ROWVA-Mid County (3A), Tinley Park (5A), Oak Forest (5A), Glenbard North (7A), Schaumburg (7A), and Zion-Benton (8A).
--- The next tie-breaker is "wins by defeated opponent": GBN 12, TP 12 eliminate OF 11, ROWVA 10, Sch 10, ZB 9.
--- This went two tie-breakers further in the 8 AM Outlook. A new Outlook was released at 4 PM, saving me a few minutes of counting and math.

50 teams at 4-4 didn't qualify today and could become teams that don't qualify at 5-4. They need help with points. They are NOT getting 6 wins. Here they are, listed in order of playoff points.

Moving on....

From there, I adjust teams up and down into the proper classes to create 8 classes of 32 teams. My classes were 32-33-32-33-32-31-31-32 respectively. So I moved Willowbrook down 6A, St. Viator down to 5A, Elmwood Park and Ridgewood down to 4A. Watseka and Kewanee down to 3A, and Farmington down to 2A.

I don't see quads in the 2015 or 2016 playoffs, and they aren't mentioned in "How the matchups are determined", so I'm not using quads unless I get new information. I'm using the Playoff Outlook updated at 3:51 PM on 10/16. I'm not making further adjustments.

For week 10, we scramble the actual playoffs into 1999 mode and show what it would look like with just 6 classes.

OPRF. They have the best win out of the two with a W over Simeon. Both had one score games vs HC and DGN. OPRF was much more competitive against GW than LT was

Yeah a ton will change. It's not a given that GBN even beats NV to get in at 5-4 and be the 32 seed in 7A. Same with Wheaton North - if they beat WV they will be a higher seed and if they lose a lower. I don't see it playing out this way - but if the season did end today - wow what an interesting set of games in that upper 7A bracket!!

A game against Lincoln-Way Central is a match up against a former Hetlet assistant coach, Jeremy Cordell.

Also, I do not believe Glenbard West and Glenbard North (opened in 1968) have ever played each other in varsity football.
