It's playoff time, and if it's ok with crusader_of_90 I'll go on with the thread that I started over 15 years ago. Quickly, an upset is not determined by the IHSA seeding. It goes by who is favored to win. This week's upset is....... The unranked, 6-3 Raiders of Bollingbrook, over the #13 ""Swagger High" Hawks of Maine South. This class 8a match up is going to be amazing. Freshman fenom QB Jonas Williams is the real deal for the Brook. Will he and his receiving corps be enough to get past MS???? Yes. This is still a very young MS team, and they have not been scoring points in typical Maine South fashion. I like the Brook tonight. Final score....... Bollingbrook 42 - Maine South 28. That's this week's upset. What are your thoughts and who is your upset?

Might be the end of the road today so I am going to take the opportunity to agree with the OP and select The Brook as my feeto's Friday upset over the 8A Defending Runner-Ups, Maine South Hawks.

It will take a Herculean effort for the young Raiders to go into a hostile and packed Park Ridge and come away with a W, but I think they can if they play to their ability.

If they can win tonight, they could make a run to the semis.

Agreed. I have the Brook going to the semi's.
Whoa WHOA!! They may be blown out after the 1st 12 minutes if they play early like they have been. I think the MS staff is top 2 at putting together a gameplan. Semis is so far away.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to leave soon in order to get a parking spot.

This is hilarious. See? This is what happens when you don't bother to get a copyright for your idea. I didn't even know about the other thread until you pointed it out here. Then I went to look there too. It was funny when you told crusader to "Create your own thread." Uhh, I think that's exactly what he did. 😂 😂

I guess I should have said "Create your own thread IDEA"

Nashville Hornets over host Red Bud in 2A. Projected:
[projection: Red Bud (IL) 21-19]
may or may not be an upset, but posting the Blue. If you don't know or care about the Hornets, just ask @EdgyTim for his thoughts...

I think 2 CCL Blue teams drew two very tough games and could get upset.

I know Jacobs is 8-1 and at home, but the gambletron is giving them 10 points and a lot of people are taking that action. They have serious players on offense. They run a offense BR hasn’t seen in years, and they play on grass with their D1 DT on a bad ankle. Jacobs aren’t a 1 year wonder, they have been consistent for awhile and made the quarters last year. I think they pull this off.

I don’t think this is as much of an upset either, but NN is getting points with Marist and are also at home with a proven Power 5 recruit at QB....I think NN can pull this off at home.

At this point, its hard to know what an upset is. Many lower seeds are probably legit double digit favorites.

That said I will call two "upsets" of higher seeds against schools with much bigger football reps.

Glenbrook South over HF-- Titans may be one of the most disciplined teams around and their unique offense is tough to prep for in a week

Nap North over Marist. -- DVC most underrated conference in the state

I was also going to go with Jacobs. Too many injuries for BR at key defensive positions [edit: more than just #55] and they have a long bus ride to Algonquin. Would gladly eat crow on this.

I’ll go with Glenbard South over Naz.

Naz is the lower seed but everyone expects them to win. GBS has been building a nice program the last few years and has a really great passing combo this year. At some point they will take the next step forward as a program most likely next year but they have a shot at doing it a year early.

Seriously maybe we should have a small school bracket for Feeto as well with a designated co-author.

(8-1) Wheaton Academy has only given up 66 points all season. Not deserving of their seed?

Belleville East over South Elgin

BTW this is not your father's MS team, YET! Hoping we have the chance to get there.

There is no "deserving of their seed" in Illinois. It's all based on record and playoff points.

neutral field
[2022] Providence Catholic (New Lenox, IL) 34, [2022] Wheaton Academy (West Chicago, IL) 14

Who you play matters. Wheaton only gave up 66 points but their opponents were a combined 31-50. Provi's opponents were 48-33

I’d venture to say their offense is similar to Joliet Catholic’s.

Seeding is based strictly on record and playoff points, so yes, they deserve their seeding. But they are still are a big underdog. The only decent team they played this year was ICCP, and they gave up 42 points to them. In regards to strength of team, I would say ICCP is similar to PC.

What’s the criteria here? Is Bradley an upset or not?
I’m rolling with the Boilers for the 2nd consecutive week if so. This time not to just cover. Moneyline.

edit: looks like they are one point dogs per Calpreps so moneyline is the only option.

Winnebago over Seneca in 3A. Seneca hasn't given up a point since September 10th but one of those was a 1-0 forfeit and their schedule is lacking to say the least. CalPreps has Seneca by 10

They are more traditional wishbone but they have a 4 Star TE to pop it out too. I have no idea how they are on D. With CG on a down year Prairie Ridge is their signature W this season.
