ESL v IMG ---- 13-14 IMG - OT Game. (Full Game Video Recap)

Not denying that at all. They have to also be decent in ESL HS to give those kids playing ball all the nice things they do have. All the money they need to travel every year and the awesome stadium comes from somewhere I'm sure they fund raise well and get money from former plays and what have you. There are many schools up here in "nicer" areas that cant afford that.
I also understand people can afford and do what they want with the dollars they have. I agree that it is great to have the support system that believes in providing some of the perks.

I have been told multiple times on this board that I am wrong when I post the following….
Here it is again

I believe that ESL grueling schedule (toughest in the state) plays a big part in their shortcomings against Cary Grove

The option offense has always given them problems and combine that with their insane schedule… it’s a recipe for an upset taking place

Naw. You recruit too. Ive already told you the story about the kid from the west side who ended up at Batavia who Teonic recruited all summer. But just like football, you guys dont do it very well so you point fingers.

Its ok. You aspire to be ESL. And until you can you are going to attempt to make some peripheral connection btw your "facts" and your conclusion.

I hope you continue explaining your point though. I think the board really would enjoy listening to a South Elgin fan tell us how ESL has underachieved!
Lol. Zero recruiting at SEHS. Nice try though.

I am not from ESL, so I don't want to speak for their community, but if you really can't see or acknowledge the advantages the kids from PR have, I don't know what to tell you.
Money? Maybe. I don't see 4 helmets, dozens of D-1 recruits, replay scoreboard, NIKE sponsorships, Riddell fitted items, HC as AD...but go on.

Thank you for your opinion.

1. Nike hasn't give ESL one uniform EVER. As a NIKE school, you get discounts and the ability to order certain things that other can't. There is NO money donated from NIKE. Also ESL has had the same uniform style for 16 years now. It is very easy to have multiple color variations when you are not buying new uniforms every other year.

2. Helmets- When you don't dress a lot of kids, it very easy to have multiple helmet colors. Trim your roster from 70 plus down to 50 and there you have it. ESL also don't have three levels of football. Half of the JV dress varsity. Simple numbers
40 Fresh 40 Soph 70 varsity equates to 150 helmets. ESL have 50 so the same helmet count but three different colors. Simple math. Not an advantage, just using the same resource differently.

3. ESPN has never given ESL a dime. The one game that was on ESPN years ago, the individuals running the classic PAID ESPN to broadcast which was not smart. This is one of the reasons the District took over running it.

4. As noted on other post kids from ESL/ STL transfer schools almost yearly. This senior class ESL lost, 4 star QB going to Illinios to CR, 4 star WR who has 30 plus offers to CR and a 4 star Safety who is committed to SMU to Desoto Tx. They also lost another corner that wasn't a starter to Desoto Tx. These kids are NEVER mentioned however, kids that transferred in becomes the reason why.

5. Scholarships are based on measurable more than skill. There are a ton of skilled high school players who never play a down of college football.

Lastly out of 500 plus high schools, how many teams can say they have been to state 6 times winning 4 during that same period.

I will await your response. If there isn't one, I will then put you in coward status bumping your gums as a keyboard warrior. If you want to talk facts we can. If not, BEAT IT!
ESPN pays for travel. NIKE pays for the uniforms. Riddell individually fits the kids. Get your facts straight.

I’m glad that you have openly voiced these sentiments because I can guarantee you this. It’s that mode of thinking that plays out in the officiating as well, when one particular team is always underrepresented. Us ESL folks have always realized that it’s “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” disposition towards our community. SMH!
I'm not following...are you saying the officials are against you?

LOL. Man you are a clown. You have no idea what you are talking about, and to make matters worse, you actually have the audacity to tell folks who are directly involved in the program you know more about it than they do.

My wife is also a big time Bama fan. As soon as I typed that post, i said to myself, I have actually heard 1 person say Nick Saban needs to be better!
^ exactly 😂😂 gotta win MORE And i probably found myself saying that when we lost to Ole miss back to backs years and other random games that had me depressed for weeks.

Several people on here that are giving you the ESL facts have been involved with the team for decades. But you know more about the team than them. OK

Here is a que for you, look how many true supporters of LWE, MC, Loyola, Naz, etc, (programs that actually experience success and what it takes to achieve it) have come in here agreeing with your assertion that ESL is an underachieving program.

SE is so far from being a traditionally successful program that you dont even know what goes in to actually making these programs what they are and it shows in your posts. There are probably a hundred programs who have substantial advantages over ESL without nearly the success.

ESL loses two games in the state championship to cary grove and thats your conclusion?
No. This thread turned fast. I like ESL and appreciate their ability to overcome a terrible neighborhood, but it is also fair to acknowledge that they should be in the hunt every single year. CG beating them is unacceptable.

Look at the schools you referenced. There is a sizable difference between those schools and U-46. Just because I point out several facts about ESL, doesn't mean I think SE is better than them. That's whataboutism and I'm not getting into that. SE achieved whatever it did achieve with their own kids...from these middle schools. ESL has clearly not done that. Neither have the schools you referenced. That doesn't mean they are not great programs. Just a fact.

Wait, losing to CG is unacceptable? Maybe some of our CG folks can chime in here and tell us why they weren't worthy of being state champs last year.

You have an unbelievable ability to separate out and ignore the facts that are uncomfortable for you. Ill give you the benefit of the doubt and say that SE is the unicorn in this years playoffs and has never recruited a player, successfully or unsuccessfully. The fact that you will sit around clutching your pearls and hoping everyone pats you on the back because your 9-0 season that finished with a dud in the playoffs was somehow done the right way with only U-46 kids is comical.

I did not say anything about unfair or underachieving? If a school isnt helping boost their athletics that is 2000% their fault, but I do think it says something about a program who can get it done playing yall. ESL isnt going to lost to some no name 5-4 team but if someone can get it done then i think it speaks volumes about the other program as well and that they also got to be doing the right things. Does that make more sense? maybe i been saying it wrong
I misunderstood… I agree

Stop It Michael Jordan GIF

I can’t believe people are talking about ESL being “underachievers” 😂

i think once someone starts getting into detail about how a team gets its funds for its program , that’s doing too much. I think they look at Cary and don’t see the D1 players. I don’t know how common it is, but have you guys ever seen a CG player have their helmet off on the sidelines? They don’t allow their players to have their helmets off . (Unless injury). Small details in program success
