Week 9 in the Central State. 2nd week of crossovers.

Please use this space as a place to not only remind me of how terrible my version of this weekly thread is, but also (most importantly) BEG on hands and knees for @rocketnation to rejoin us.

ALL games Friday

  • Glenwood (6-2) vs Springfield (H.S.) (5-3) - From the outside looking in, it feels like SHS has packed it in and is happy with 5-4... Unlikely that's how they feel in the SHS camp, but I do think Glenwood rolls in this one.
Calpreps: [2024] Glenwood (Chatham, IL) 38 (94%), [2024] Springfield (IL) 14 (6%)
Massey: Glenwood 38 SHS 14

  • Eisenhower (1-7) vs Southeast (1-7) - Somebody gets win number two... Southeast probably.
Calpreps: [2024] Southeast (Springfield, IL) 35 (60%), [2024] Eisenhower (Decatur, IL) 31 (40%)
Massey: Southeast 36 Eisenhower 28

  • MacArthur (2-6) vs QND (7-1) - QND on the road, chance to go 8-1. Is Wilmo going 2A or 3A? What about Nashville? The Raiders will want to know ASAP.
Calpreps: [2024] Quincy Notre Dame (Quincy, IL) 42 (99%), [2024] MacArthur [Douglas] (Decatur, IL) 6 (1%)
Massey: QND 35 MacArthur 13

  • Lanphier (0-8) vs U-High (6-2) - Pioneers want that 7-2 look. Avoid the injuries this week, second season is calling. U-High with a big margin.
Calpreps: [2024] University (Normal, IL) 67 (>99%), [2024] Lanphier (Springfield, IL) 6 (<1%)
Massey: U-High 49 Lanphier 7

  • Lincoln (4-4) vs Jacksonville (5-3) - Railers with a solid opportunity to steal a bid. They're going to need an above average effort. Solid season from the Crimson.
Calpreps: [2024] Jacksonville (IL) 42 (87%), [2024] Lincoln (IL) 24 (13%)
Massey: Jacksonville 42 Lincoln 21

  • Rochester (6-2) vs SHG (5-3) - A few weeks ago I'd have entertained a Rocket blowout here... After last week idk what to think of the Cyclones. "Rockets should, but SHG certainly could..." That's best summary of that I can make of this one.
Calpreps: [2024] Rochester (IL) 35 (65%), [2024] Sacred Heart-Griffin (Springfield, IL) 28 (35%)
Massey: Rochester 39 SHG 26

Weather: As of 10/22/2024 16:20
Springfield - High 71 / Low 42 NW 14mph
Decatur - High 73 / Low 42 NW 15mph
Lincoln - High 72 / Low 41 NW 6mph
***AM showers at all 3 locations. Evening time partly cloudy and slightly breezy.

@rocketnation "Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee." To view from wuthering heights we look at thee for the light and nourishment of thine divine pigskin lifeforce, yet we furrow through clay tablets from the Uruk to feed the soul of thine greatness of the CS8 without thee!!!

Please come back!

I agree with the Rocket/Cyclone view... But as I say this game will be close watch something happen to make this a blowout! Lincoln and Jacksonville should be a good game. Lanphier upsets U-High 50-14 ;) Da Raiders pound the Generals 45-14. I think Ike beats SE by 7!!!

Thank you for this Roamin. Looks good.

I would hate to be an odds-maker for the Rocket/Cyc game. Too much unpredictable play on the part of both teams. SHG has continually improved throughout the season, whereas RHS is still trying to find its groove.

I suppose if I had a gun to my head and had to pick, I'd take the Rockets by a score since they're at home, but don't be surprised if both teams enter the playoffs at 6-3.

Edit: spelling

All.... SHG @ Rochester. The rodents sage advice on this game as it applies to Cyclone players AND Cyclone fans. If you are going to sit bring something to sit on. (I always have by the way) 🤫 Ratsy

Preferably, the tallest chair(s) allowed within the Rocket complex. Better yet, tis the season, go get you a bargain/used/cheapy deer stand and get cozy up against a tree nearby. Or, as a buddy of mine makes a habit of, just go park yourself in the home (Rocket) bleachers. General admission means you can sit wherever the heck you please. 🤣

I spent a solid 20 mins yesterday, while putting this together, trying to convince myself that Rochester* will just spank SHG. And until last week I was all for typing that. I just couldn't convince myself...

By the numbers... but I don't have player stats. Cigaros or rocket or Ratsy or one of the other Rocket or SHG fans that float around here might have player stats...

PF-315--- 39 ppg
PA-145--- 18 ppg

SHG

All.... I think you got the gist of what I was saying. But those other remedies work as well. Ratsy

I remember when Herrin tried sitting on our side during one of our championship runs. Did not end well for them.

All... The rodent reporting out in the parking lot at Rochester. (With some decent Rocket fans that know the game is over at half 24 or 27 to 7 I have forgotton.) This game was over on the first series that SHG had the ball. Third and two and like last week against Chatham in ot a generic play that everyone knows is coming.

HC from SHG before the season and it's on film 1450.com said we unlike last year are going to simplify what we call. My words dumb it down. Oy! Ok well when the rodent knows what is coming I think so do those that actually knows football. LOL

This Rocket team to be honest is not top ten on the ones that I have seen but what does that say about what they are doing to SHG tonight. Sigh.... A runner might be coming. The winds of change oh my. Generic calls and generic defensive sets have consequences.

Having said that finishing 5-4 when I busted the projections is better then 6-3 if I have it right. Ta Ta.... Ratsy
