Chicago St. Rita at Rockford Auburn

Only loss was to Boylan Catholic14-7. Mauled everyone else. Hard to get a comparison vs other teams as they play in a 10 team league. There are no out of conference games to compare. Played the best defense in the Northern Illinois (NIC-10) Conference only giving up 111 and scoring 333. On paper they look very tough. If SR is to have a chance they need to sustain drives and not beat themselves. If SR turns the ball over like they did with BR it will be a short playoff for them. If they play like they did vs Bmac and MC they will be competitive.

Auburn is a really good team. Great athletes, BIG lineman, and very well coached. They turned the ball over five times aginst Boylan, those mistakes caused thrm the game. By far and away the best team in the Nic-10.

Tomloner is correct in his reply. Auburn has several 300 pound linemen on both sides of the ball. They are led by speedy rb # 4 Quawn Bell (5-6 -165) and rb #21 Drequan Friar (5-6 -153). They are hard to find behind the huge line. Qb is #8 Nathan Jarrett - he is back after missing a few games with a hand injury. Auburn is a run first team but can throw the ball when needed.

Thank you for the reply. Reads like Rita is definitely the underdog in this game. And that's OK. No turnovers and stop their run, it will be a close game. Long trip up to Rockford will be very, very tough.

You must of looked at the wrong box score or were not at the game. Auburn only turned the ball over twice. Fumble and interception

If any Rita fan is interested, I believe wifr.com has a couple Auburn games on video. They looked really good against Hononegah.

Yep, and those were more of Boylan making plays than Auburn unforced errors. I watched the game. I think Auburn is the better team but Boylan outplayed them that game.

Impressions remaining from last year:
  1. Auburn is a great host town. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating.
  2. Those 350 lb steam rollers are not messing around. Be ready for a big push
  3. Well coached team doesn't lose their cool when they fall behind.
  4. They have team speed to burn. Beware

Rita should be up for this game - gonna have to get Rule outside and make sure no INTs this game. Gotta get Zaleski heavily involved.

Most of those 350lbers. are down around 330 this year, got in better shape this off-season.

I'm thinking last years beat down at the hands of GW will have them better prepared for this season, we will find out this Friday. Rita is a big step up in competition from what they have played the last 3-4 weeks.

Auburn is beatable! They are a good team, but barely beat Freeport who is 1-8 and a 5A team. They had to score with a 1:30 left to take the lead. They are big and fast, but will make some mistakes. This should be an interesting game. What does Rita have???

Rita has a pretty good o-line; a tough as nails QB who is very quick but not a great passer; a very good RB; and one very good (but not overly fast) WR. Their D is suspect.

I hope SR can keep it close early. Anyone know how many if the Auburn players go both ways?

They don't have any full-time 2way players. Their O-line and QB are all seniors and they have two small, quick RB's. They're definitely a run first team. I think it will be a high scoring game from both sides.

My apologies, I was misinformed. I do still think Auburn was the better team. If they can get past St. Rita I could see them making a deep run.

2nd round Matchup Auburn vs St Charles North would be a great game.. Huge lines on both sides and great speed on both sides.

Thanks for saving me the trip.

I'll be honest, though. We are all assuming that SR has been prepared with their schedule and all. I just hope the Mustangs do not assume this and underestimate a very good RA team. I will defer to Edgy on this one and agree with whatever he says on this game; he knows his stuff.

Yep. No doubt. Auburn clear favorite at home. SR will have to hold on to the ball and at least flip the field on the drives that are stopped. D will have to be opportunistic, work outside in, inside out and wrap up. Good health to both teams.

Every 8-1 opponent deserves respect. Auburn looks like they were rock steady all season long. SR's up and down season and 5-4 record is indicative of a team that can go either way on any given night. This team was two field goals away from 3-6. But this team was also capable of being 8-1. Other than the LA game SR's losses were more self inflected than being beat. I know the SR players and coaches respect Auburn and are not taking them lightly by any means. On paper SR are underdogs. SR will have a fire in the belly like an underdog. The playoffs are sudden death. Looking to the next round is a clear path to a loss.

It appears Rita just does not have the size and power to stay with Auburn. They were really physically beaten by Loyola this year.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. Fresh slate. Yes Auburn might be favored but they did not play the regular season schedule that Rita did. Beating PC and MC equate against some of Auburn's best wins. So good luck to the Mustangs. I still think you'll make playoffs next year as well - that #1 kid on Rita could be a high D1 player in time

Auburn football fans should know if SR was a heavy favorite they would not post bulletin board material. That what their competitors do or guys like me. SR 31 RA 28.

Yes, Childers has a chance to be excellent next year.

Childers, QB, sophomore WR all back. Offense will be fine next year. You have to give Kuska credit. This off season they completely reworked the offense. It was very frustrating for the 350 offensive coordinators in the stands (parents and alumni) when SR was flagged for delay of game or had to burn a timeout because the play took too long coming from the booth. This year most of the time the clock has 17 or more seconds on it when they snap the ball.

But losing Zaleski, Rule, Stover, Horvorka, Jones, McDevitt are some big hits on O.

How in the world did Rita lose to the Rocks in their opener?

Week 1's are never indicative of midseason or end of season. St. Pats executed extremely well for week one team. SR's first half had an interception in their hands dropped, muffed punt, and dropped wide open post. End of the 1st half, Shamrocks were up 33-14. 2nd half score was Rita 30-14, leaving St. Pats ahead by 3 points.
