Cary-Grove 18 Praire Ridge 12 FINAL

Watched most of the game on the live stream. Could have gone either way. Low scoring as it was all run game until the end when PR had to throw. Tough break for PR on their 4th and very long down. CG, I believe, only touched the ball for one down in Q3 and they scored on a 77 yard run. Defense had to be exhausted.

Prairie ridges QB is a stud. This was pretty much for the FVC. Always a great time when CG and PR are both expected to make deep runs. Straight dawg fights between the 2. Never disappoints

CG defense stepped it up the 2nd half, and the PR QB, who is really quick and slippery, might have gotten a bit tired. 26 carries in the 1st half.

Wish the Fox Valley would move to 2 Five team divisions allowing these two teams a Week 1 or 2 non-conference game. Would love to see them early in the year against some different schools.
How would you like to divide them:
1) Enrollment:
Group Big) Huntley. Jacobs. Dundee-Crown. Hampshire. McHenry.
Group Little) Crystal Lake South. Prairie Ridge. Crystal Lake Central. Cary-Grove. Burlington Central.
2) Location:
Group North) McHenry. Prairie Ridge. Crystal Lake Central. Cary-Grove. Crystal Lake South.
Group South) Huntley. Hampshire. Burlington Central. Dundee-Crown. Jacobs.
3) Location Again:
Group West) Burlington Central, Hampshire, Huntley, Jacobs. Crystal Lake South.
Group East) Cary-Grove. Dundee-Crown. Crystal Lake South. Crystal Lake Central. McHenry.

I would love to see the conference not be closed, but either a school leaves or a couple get added. I don't see how any of these scenarios would really work.

BTW, for the East/ West, you have CLS twice and no PR.

What makes most sense is that they split based upon recent historical competitiveness. That means DC, CLC, CLS, Hamp, McH, in one…BC, CG, HDJ, Hunt, PR in the other. Two crossovers, two non cons.

Reevaluate after every two years

This makes the most sense to me, as size and location does not align with balance out here

Force They hand, Everybody wants to see some new Matchups The same way the Southwest Valley Conference is mixed up , can be done for Fox Valley conference. The vote to have a lock conference is selfish if you ask me, especially we have two or three programs that are extremely dominant.

I remember few years ago CG played lake Zurich and Wheaton north week 1 and 2 and pretty much had no problem beating them.

No Doubt, I know they can hang with anyone in the state, I just would like them to get Non Conference action. More ESCC or CCL would be fine. I would like to see CG make there way to 64th and Dante on a Friday night.

CG and PR have really blossomed last few years, maybe FVC will do something soon so they can get tougher opponents. Most FVC teams don’t really give them a battle. Few years ago Huntley wanted to climb up with them, but I think it was more of a really good talented group they had, but program has gone back down

Not sure what the motivation for the Fox Valley teams would be to split into two five-team divisions.
First of all, the math listed on this forum is wrong: If the plan is non-conference games Weeks 1-2, crossover games Weeks 3-4, then each week 5-9, there will be one crossover game each week, so the actual alignment would be four division games, three crossover games and two nonconference games.
Now, for the "weak" division, there is real danger here. If a team goes 3-1 and wins its division title, goes 0-3 which obviously is very likely against the powerhouse division, and splits its two season-opening nonconference games, it is a division champion with a 4-5 record and does not qualify for the playoffs.
That's a bad situation. Right now, you have teams in the league finishing 4-5 and missing the playoffs. But to finish first in a league and. not qualify for the postseason is just not good.
But here's the other thing. What is the motivation for playing nonconfernce games weeks 1-2. Right now, the schools have rivalry games out the rear-end. And short travel which saves money. And easy travel for the team's fans, which parents surely like.
And there is absolutely no legit argument for saying the Fox Valley Conference top teams would benefit from playing top competition weeks 1-2 as a replacement for two weak conference teams.
How do they benefit? In the last SEVEN years of playoffs, the Fox Valley has had a team playing for the state championship. Not many conferences in the state have that standard of excellence. So clearly, conference play already is preparing the best team for a legit state-championship run.
I am just not seeing a benefit for the top schools to dump conference rivalries in exchange for games that will better prepare a team for the playoffs that doesn't need to be better prepared, based on playoff results.

Does C-G really have another real rivalry other than PR?
I just like non-con games.
Agree C-G/PR seem fine in the closed conference.

No, CG and PR have pretty much been superior for the last 10 years in the FVC. Look up their scores against the other teams. I think we’re all just being selfish and want to see them play good teams early on instead of waiting for the playoffs..lol

Something I found interesting, I met someone who moved to Cary and he said that he wanted to move somewhere where his sons would be in a good position to exceed in football as they got older and moved 45 minutes away and bought a house in Cary. Just thought that was interesting

Well, the good news is that CG has other nice things if the kids end up not being very good at football

I just like non-conference play.

Also not exactly balance in the conference. It's PR and CG with occasional success by a CL or Huntley.
