The 8A game wrapped up at about 11:45.
With the wing-T having been retired (apologies to JCA fans) this trend will most likely continue.
Are teams and fans arriving back in Chicagoland at 2 or 3 am what the IHSA wants?

Competitive games also make the clock move faster. PAT's, KO's, penalties and incompletions (being down) lead to longer games, no?

I never watched the 8a game. I feel asleep.

Don't know how to get around the midnight finish unless games begin at 8am.

Kickoff time: 09:02 PM
End of Game: 11:37 PM
Total elapsed: 02:34

The 7A game took nearly an hour longer to complete than the 8A game.

Maybe 2 host sites when Northwestern new stadium is done?

1A-4A at ISU and 5A-8A at NU

Friday 2 games at each
1A - 11 AM Kickoff ISU
5A - 1:00 PM kickoff at NU
2A - 2 PM kickoff at ISU
6A - 5 PM kickoff at NU

Saturday
3A - 11 AM Kickoff ISU
7A - 1:00 PM kickoff at NU
4A - 2 PM kickoff at ISU
8A - 5 PM kickoff at NU

There is no chance they’d split the staff (or less chance - double the staff) to accommodate two sites in one weekend. Nor would the TV accommodate this.
Yea. Two weekends would be a stretch. But two sites would be an absolute non starter.

Move everything up a week, have championship games; 2 Thursday 3 Friday, 3 Saturday.

Have these schools never heard of a hotel? Just like the teams that play in the morning, they usually stay in a hotel the night before.

2 sites are completely undoable, multiple weekends is the same as 2 separate sites, costs double, and looking at the stands this weekend, not so sure the IHSA made money.

You could go
Friday - 8 Man @ 11am, 1A @ 2PM, 2A @ 5PM
Saturday - 3A @ 11am, 4A @ 2PM, 5A @ 5PM
Sunday - 6A @ 11am, 7A @ 2PM, 8A @ 5PM (those Catholic Programs still can attend Sat Mass or Sunday Mass, which we know they all do)

Is Thanksgiving weekend the be all end all date for the IHSA? Can we move it up a week? Move it back to the first week of December?

6 classes gets you more competitive playoffs. Better game times for the championships.
The only con to it iMO is that you'll have way more teams trying to schedule cupcakes in non conference to insure they have a good record and get in.

I'm sure they don't want to compete with Bears/NFL on Sunday. But that thought did cross my mind too.

This is the format now...just starting 15min earlier.
Elapsed game times for 1A through 4A, with more run based offenses, typically are shorter than 5A through 8A. Start Friday with 1A and 3A and Saturday with 2A and 4A may help the 4pm and 7pm games start closer to on-time.

There were four running clocks Friday, how close did the 2a,3a,4a games come to starting on time?
