First of all thank you for all the coaches, parents, support staff, and most of all the young men playing the games…salute !
Scrambler8 probably summed up HS football a bunch of years ago on this site but only a few would remember but here goes.
Over the many years I have participated in viewing this great game and listening to all the nonsense that goes along with it I am concerned about respect and sportsmanship as it exists today. I know welcome to society.
Turning in the equipment hits home especially for those who play the game but the real hurt is for those who turn the page. Memories galore and friends for life from the HS game is the best prize. The trophies are great but the life lessons are better and how you carry yourself is the real number one.
How do you all deal with this end of season events? Not easy at all.
In the LWE family you have a head coach who is wrapping a season with his twin sons who dealt with injuries their senior year and could not leave it all on the field for that last HS game. That hurts. Injuries are a part of a physical game and believe me there are many more very talented athletes at both LWE and schools across the state in the same boat. Look forward friends and reach out and thank these athletes we watch weekly, monthly, and yearly as they develop into men.
Communities need these individuals and the inspiration they give to the youngsters in return is enormous.
Too old to take this all for granted but people like Edgy, WJOL, the crazy Joliet Catholic and Providence Catholic communities have really laid the groundwork for what we have in the immediate areas. Seeing once proud communities on the south side as programs erode is depressing for sure but we need to keep pedaling friends!
Sorry for the length of this one. Take care…and thank the Lord we have MS4Ever and Crossbones!

Corrected the original now..sorry for the wording but Coach Z has three sons with the twins being seniors this year. His youngest is a sophomore.

An undefeated season accompanied by a state championship is a teams dream

If you had to pick a team that would have benefitted the most from an in season loss, LWE is at the top of that list

This was only the 2nd time that LWE starters played the entire 2nd half

I think this one is in the running for "strangest post" of the season. Edits and all. Weird 💆‍♂️

Strange phrasing…

I am interested in seeing the changes LWE makes for next years team
If they're smart, the HFC search committee is doing their homework ahead of Coach Zvonar's retirement. Nobody on the current staff is the answer. They need an outsider who can take the program to the next level. Look at the guy Chicago Christian picked up this season!

Right?! They sold out for the Bolingbrook QB and it bit them in the ..... Their greedy stupidity was Marist gain, however.
How was it greedy or stupid? Any team in the state would be lucky to have him!
