76-34 Althoff 3q

How was the deck stacked against them? Is the lets get rid of the big bad Private school talk starting again?
With some people it never stopped! Beautiful (sarcasm) example for the Tuscola players to take through life. If this is this most "unfair" thing that happens to them in their lives, what great lives they will have.

Maybe he was talking about the “deck being stacked” because of how piss poor the Tuscola defense was this year.

They played five teams with winning records this season.

They lost all five of those games……..while giving up an average of 52+ ppg in those five losses.

Their loss to Althoff was by 35 and the AD thinks the deck was stacked against them because Althoff is a private school. Hell, he prepared his followers for this when, in his pregame post, he pointed out that Althoff was a private school in the St Louis metro area.

He sees public school Rochester in his neck of the woods dominate year after year in the playoffs beating many private schools (including Althoff, Mac, QND, SHG, and St Rita) along the way, thereby proving that it CAN be done, but he would rather opt for the expedient scapegoat.

Sadly, this is the mindset of many, many public school coaches, administrators, and apologists. They're absolutely fine beating private schools in the regular season and playoffs. Once they lose to one in the playoffs, though, it galls them. It gets under their skin and sticks in their craw. They blame the private school and the so called unlevel playing field for their loss. If the luck of the draw had Tuscola facing an 8-1 public school instead of a private school with that same record, they likely would have been trounced by 35 or more without whining commentary from their AD.

It needs to be pointed out that Tuscola lost every game it played this year against schools that will finish their season with a winning record.

What was his excuse last year when Tuscola lost in the quarters by 35 against a public school?

And let’s not forget Rock Island Alleman whom they faced in 2 state finals.

Thank you for bringing attention to this. The private school advantage versus public school disadvantage argument is so tired. And your example is perfect as Rochester is also one of the smallest schools in its conference, as it typically plays at 5A to 6A schedule. Whereas tuscola played only 1 school which had 100 more students.
