Impact Player for Hinsdale Central
Hinsdale Central senior OL Gene Riordan (6-foot-5, 280 pounds) who is already verbally committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes is a talented linemen who has continue to improve each season for the Red Devils. Riordan will be asked to provide leader on the off the field for the Red Devils, including an offensive line in need of replacing 3 starters from a season ago.
Looking for a sleeper name to watch for Hinsdale Central? Although hardly a sleeper to those in and around the Hinsdale Central football, senior QB/DB Riley Contreras has been a three year varsity starter and impact player and a key running the Red Devils offense. Contreras is drawing various recruiting interest and attention at QB/WR and also as a defensive back this summer. He;s an experienced player who has a great motor, leadership and plays with intensity at all times.
EDGY's Preseason Thoughts on the 2025 Hinsdale Central Red Devils
Hinsdale Central welcomes back a nice core of returning starters and a group of kids that have logged a ton of reps at the varsity level. The Red Devils and head coach Brian Griffin is looking to get past missing the IHSA state playoff field over the past three seasons, a streak that honestly seems hard to believe for this generally highly successful program over the years. Hinsdale Central will look to find a way towards 5 plus wins this fall with a schedule that top to bottom has been as tough as anyone in the West Suburban Silver conference. Hinsdale Central really has a talented group that should be in every game this fall and getting out of the gates with a win or two (especially in non conference games against Naperville Central and West Aurora) will be all the better for the Red Devils in 2025. I like this team to find a way to 5 plus wins in 2025 and make the IHSA state playoff field.
The biggest question facing Hinsdale Central this summer?
Can the Red Devils stay healthy and get back to it's winning ways in 2025. I feel pretty good about what Central has coming back for 2025 and the overall talemnt level and numbers are generally strong for this school. It's been sort of weird over the last few seasons since the Red Devils have pretty much been in every game, but hve had to deal with injuries at key spots along with just having bad luck at times and just not being able to close out tight games. Hinsdale Central has been pretty much competitive with everyone on the schedule and a break here or a break here and this team could have seen those 4-5 seasons turn into 6-3 pretty easily. Here is to better luck for the Red Devils in 2025.
