WB6 Week 8 Speedcap

One team continued to dominate, one team officially punched it's ticket, one team unofficially punched it's ticket, one team has hopes of next week, one team has a broken heart, and two teams are just waiting for basketball season.

Quincy 55 @ Geneseo 18: Geneseo managed to hang around for a quarter and a half until Quincy fully woke up and hit the gas. Quincy had almost 600 yards of offense while holding the Leafs to 200 yards. Geneseo will look to try and collect it’s 5th win of the season next week against Rock Island.

Rock Island 14 @ Sterling 47: What a difference a week makes…Sterling came out fired up and took it to a flat looking Rock Island team. Sterling would score on it’s first 5 possessions and eventually get the running clock going. Rocky could get very little going on offense until the game was well out of hand. Sterling will play for win number 6 next week.

Moline 40 @ Galesburg 7: Galesburg sold out against the run early in the game and got burned by Moline’s play action passes. Then Moline got the ground game going to cruise to a comfortable win. Moline’s defense held the Silver Streaks to 84 yards of total offense.

United Township 35 @ Regis Catholic, WI 36: Back and forth game that saw UT go for 2 at the end to try and collect the win…and get stuffed. Heartbreak loss for a team that now lost by 3 points or less in three of it’s five losses. Next week they have a good chance to get their 4th win and then hope and pray they have enough points to get in the playoffs.

ICE week 8

Reed-Custer (0-7) @ Streator (2-5) - While the Vomits have had two near wins, they still haven't done it yet. Streator at least has 2 under their belt, even if those two wins were against winless teams. I think Streator gets their third and final win of the year. Plus, I'm really looking forward to the toliet bowl next week. Streator 28 RC 24

Herscher (4-3) @ Coal City (5-2) - Although Herscher has 4 wins one was a near loss and the other few were against bad teams. Herscher isn't even thinking about this week. They wanna beat the Tone next week. I think CC comes out pissed off and I'll be honest they look pretty tough right now. CC 45 Herscher 14

Peotone (4-3) @ Lisle (0-7) - Nothing to say. Tone 52 Lisle 7

Wilmington (7-0) @ Manteno (7-0) - GOTW! Two undefeated teams this late in the season. New conference championship game! I really have nothing to base Manteno off of, just the results I see. Hard to imagine that they are going to be as tough as CC though. Wilmo 28 Manteno 14

ICE Power Rankings

1. Wilmo
2. CC
3. Manteno
4. Peotone
5. Herscher
6. Streator
7. Reed-Custer
8. Lisle

Looking forward it's pretty much a gurantee that ICE will have 4 teams in playoffs. We all know the same story.....Wilmo has to be 2A to see a true shot at a title. 3A north just has too many heavy hitters. CC should be just fine, especially if they end up in the south bracket. Peotone will probably have a tough draw and could potentially see Wilmo again. Manteno should have a decent draw, but it may mean playing CC again if they both end up north.

New: Preliminary Week 9 EDGYTIM Chicagoland Top 30 poll

Not a ton of changes this week....I'm pretty much ready for the playoffs at this stage especially with some teams and conferences in particular.

Am I The Last One to Know This?

So apparently now, if you want to watch a game you can often watch them thru Hudl. I've been looking on You Tube, etc and not finding some games, but I have found them on Hudl, such as:
Loyola vs Palatine Varsity B tomorrow..

Although not a single starter played in the second half tonight, so these guys played the whole second half tonight and might be gassed early Saturday

Big Man Touchdown

Pick a guy on your team and put him in a room with East's Jonathan Rulo and the Belleville Boy most likely emerges.

This past summer, Rulo, representing Team Illinois in the 285-pound division, won the coveted 16U Triple Crowns after capturing the Greco-Roman title at the USMC 16U Nationals in the FargoDome in July.

An athlete wins the Triple Crown when they claim USA Wrestling national titles in folkstyle, freestyle and Greco-Roman during the same year. Rulo won titles at the Junior Folkstyle Nationals in Iowa in March, claimed the Junior National freestyle title at Fargo on Wednesday and closed it out with gold medals a few days later in Greco-Roman.

Rulo, who has been in the backfield as a blocker occasionally this season, had his number called and crossed the goalline against cross-town rivals Belleville West, locking up a 4th win with a 5th assuredly to come next week against Granite City.

This will be only the second meeting between the Ramblers and Corsairs — and the first since the 1999 Prep Bowl playoffs. Loyola finished the season at 5-4 and Carmel at 4-5, neither making the IHSA playoffs. Ramblers won 22-21 in overtime - behind a 4th down score and 2-point conversion by the late, great fullback Jon Schwabe.

Lyons Township WSS Champs

Congrats to the Lions on their first West Suburban Silver Conference outright championship since 1987. @Fishwater41 has been calling it for years and it finally came true. Hopefully the Lions can represent the conference in the playoffs and get to ISU. LT football has been a sleeping giant for years but has finally matched the success of a lot of the other sports at the school. The Hitters are likely on the sidelines for the playoff but will be pulling for the other conference teams to have a great showing.
