Palatine 30 , Barrington 24 - FINAL

Luckily it's not his throwing arm.

I had acid flashbacks to Zach Oles going down in 2016....he broke his collarbone on his throwing shoulder.
I can see Oles running against Notre Dame HS in the 1st Round and attempting to run over a defensive back. He went down and on that play their chance to make PHS Football history (win a state title) ended.

Provi Playoff Hopes

I'm only going by what I heard, but Soucie seemed to think that two 4-5 teams would get in. Kenwood, with a win over Phillips (team #255) would be the first, and Plainfield North (team #256) would be the 2nd.

Next after that he had Oswego East and Glenbard West (if they won over OPRF on Saturday).
Doesn't PC have a much tougher schedule and more playoff points?

Hilltoppers 21 Provi 18 FINAL nm

Is it possible the JCA passing game opened up the running game? And thus the combination of the two is what lead to PC being gassed at the end and not being able to stop the run at the end?
A qualified Yes and a Yes.
The short passing horizontal tosses along with the spread formations helped keep Provi honest. Just chucking it deep, way off target when you are killing your momentum makes little sense.
You are just wasting Downs and risking interceptions.
I truly believe that minus the Pick 6 and the boys wake up this morning at 5-4 and everyone is in a different mood.

Hilltoppers 21 Provi 18 FINAL nm

Agreed. It definitely seemed they were working on things. There were points in the game where I thought it seemed I wanted to win more than the coaching staff. A win is a win, though.
I must admit that I am a bit confused in trying to figure out the game plan. You don't kill your own
Okay, thank you. You guys are making me feel better about what I watched this evening. I did like a lot of the things they did and/or tried today. The only thing that was really, not good. was that long pass into heavy coverage that was intercepted. That ball should have never been thrown, but that's not on the coaches.
Early in the year I pretty boldly stuck up for the coaching because I know a raw team can develop as the year progresses, have seen that transformation of many Hilltopper teams in the past and believed the critiques to be unfair in the early weeks of the season.
Last night was week #9 and I must admit that I too am a bit confused in trying to figure out the game plan and frankly, where they are as a team: Something I do not put on the kids who are giving it their all.
My best guess about last night is that having played Provi so often in the recent years and respect the quality of coaching the Celtics have, they figured they needed to mix it up to avoid being stale mated.
Perhaps the forfeit week gave them time to overthink it.
On to the playoffs and I hope Jaws reigns in his coaches for the onward march.

MMXXIV Edition - CCL-ESCC Predictions Week IX

Have their enrollment number gone up? They have always had high enrollment, probably one of the largest enrollments in the CCL. But now they are subject to the multiplier so they are 8A instead of 6A. I am sure that played a factor into them being in the blue as well.
Multiplier has nothing to do with where teams are placed in each division. It is all based on conference success, enrollment numbers and football numbers.

And the one thing no one's mentioned yet, this is a very young team. Kole Fager, Will Santiago, Jordan Bostick, Ray & Jaeden Gaspard, Tony Balanganayi, Evan Downer, Jayden Evans, Jett Griewe, Joe Reiswig, Jordan Collins, Jaylen Maiden, and Jacari Travis ALL return next year. We do have some huge losses like Jaylen Williams, Trey Widlowski, Jackson Brown, Jacob Stark, Jesse Blake Jr., Parker Brault and Ryan Donnely - but we should still be very strong, especially offensively.

Palatine 30 , Barrington 24 - FINAL

How did Palatine get strip sacked, recover it for a loss of 10+, and then get awarded a 1st down when it should’ve been 4th and forever? I was watching the stream and was completely baffled by that one. The fumble for Palatine #19 appeared to be clearly down well before the ball came out as well
The refs sucked @#$%&* tonight. That was just a rare one that went on Palatine's favor. They ruled the ball came out, Barrington had it, then they fumbled and Palatine recovered... it went in my teams favor and I'm still thinking "SMH...."
