What did we learn week 9?!?

3.1) that some guy named Anthony S posted this on social media posts about the Flyer game: East St. Louis has lost 2of the last 3 times they played Cary Grove, including last year when Cary Grove beat them for the 6A championship. Same thing will happen this year if they meet again. No one is beating Cary Grove this year!
I take comments like that with a grain of salt. Could be anybody stirring the pot. Not that I’ve ever seen that before in here from non CG fans. It’s a journey to the finals and it’s anyone’s to get there, at least from the north.

Playoff Bracket Projections- Including projected Week 9 results & regional assigments

Trying to figure out where my last projected bracket went wrong....

Mystery (on my end) somewhat solved.... the formula on my end that looked for opponent wins was still referencing the projected wins at end of week 8 (week 8 records + week 9 Massey predicted winners) vs. updating with week 9 actual results. The other issue I had looks to me that perhaps there are CPL schools not participating in playoffs, but their division is not indicated that way on IHSA site (as far as I can tell).
Could also be the misplacing of teams which played up or were success factored. ESL has always been 6A. St. Rita was always going to be 7A. I predicted 31 of 32 in the 4A bracket as I expected St. Laurence to be 5A this year and a 3A team to move up. But this is the fun of the math and projections.

I learned what I kind of always knew but the MC Homer in me didn't want to admit. That despite having an extremely difficult schedule, and having some very talented players, that this just might not be MC's year. They had a very big reload after losing numerous D1 starters, including the Sun Times POY in Dupree. While I saw some outstanding young talent in Sophomores Burrell, Harrington, Igwebuike, Harris and Freshman Marshaun Thorton and Caleb "Bonecrusher" Tucker, there is some major issues in the secondary. Teams with strong passing games just picked them apart, and the RB position, which has always been a strong point at MC, was missing this year. Jack Elliott has been an absolute Warrior and had he remained fully healthy I might be a little more optimistic but unless he's able to start using his running ability to go with his passing ability it could be a difficult road to getting Title #16 this season with SCN and their strong passing game in round 2, a possible rematch with rival SR in the semis and the probable likelihood of DGN, Batavia or BR in the Title game. I WILL GLADLY EAT MY WORDS and have a slice of crow pie but this is the realist in me thinking with my head and not my heart.
MC will level out with SCN when it comes to the trenches. I won't derail this thread too much though 🤣

ESL’s speed is elite from what I saw week 1, there is no way in hell Cary-grove makes it a game. Hopefully, I’m wrong.

I've got Palatine with 46 , Glenbard East and Naperville Central with 45 and Marist with 44 yet you have them the exact opposite - Naperville Central #8, Palatine #7, Glenbard North #6 and Marist #5 in your brackets?

Palatine 30 , Barrington 24 - FINAL

But it looks like Palatine and Barrington will meet in second round…Hopefully Palatine’s quarterback is healthy for the game. But hey, Palatine defense can still ball out even without him. They’re awesome. That should be a big game.

I would appreciate, however, Palatine fans don’t muddy up the stream screaming at the officials. It’s OK to be upset, but screaming you guys are idiots and using profanity was a bit much during the timeout fiasco. People need to realize these officials are paid about $100 per varsity game and that is before they are taxed. Yes, the schools send them a 1099. Usually they’re traveling an hour to get to the game. There is a huge shortage of officials. If you saw the way the Palatine fans were screaming at them, you know why there is a shortage. Very little money, time away from your family, and a thankless job. Even in the Chicago Catholic league, we are only a few injuries away from not having enough officials to cover the games.

I just think telling an Official (who is doing a public service) that he is an idiot and to go back to Barrington it’s a bit much. I promise you anyone classless enough to scream like that would do a terrible job at being an official because they have no levelheadedness about them. Not singling out palatine, I’m sure fans of many schools would have reacted like that. I just think people need to realize how little these guys are making to spend their Friday night away from their family to get yelled at.
I appreciate the sentiment of this and largely agree. However, Barrington parents and many others do the exact same thing. Let's not throw stones in glass houses

Nominate: Week 9 State Wide IHSA Football Coach of the Week?

Coach Mann at Bloom Township High School, he was the Fresh/Soph Head Coach threw out the entire season, but also had to fill in as the Interim Head Football Coach of the varsity team for Week 1 and Week 3 threw Week 9 of the season. He was task with the difficult challenge of managing both teams, responding to all parents, staff members, and the communities of which Bloom district services, while keeping football players engaged throughout the entire season!
