Week 6 in the WSC is very interesting, in terms of our little prediction game. The WSS has (IMO) THE marquee game of the week across the entire state, as the #3 ranked 5-0 Hitters of Glenbard West travel to Elmhurst to face #4 ranked 5-0 York Dukes. The stadium is sure to be a raucous, exciting environment. While both teams are sure to be playing after Halloween, this game will go a long way in determining the conference champion. Both schools still have tough matchups ahead in Weeks 7, 8, and 9 - so this is not a "Championship Game", but the loser will need some help if they wish to be a co-champion. York has scored 205 points and given up only 38 points all year; GW has scored 209 points and given up 78 points. The only common opponent they have so far is Proviso West - York won 54-0, GW won 51-12 (I'm not sure how much there is to glean from this information).
Other matchups that are intriguing - and will affect post season qualification and seeding - are HS vs. DGS and DGN vs. HC. In terms of our prediction game, Leyden vs PE is a toss up between two 0-5 teams. So there is definitely room for movement across the board. All games this week are on Friday.
