Mike Pettine Sr coached Pennsylvania powerhouse and often nationally ranked Central Bucks (CB) West High School for over 30 years and won 4 state titles. His record while at CB West was 326-42-4.

Mike Pettine Jr played QB for his dad and went on to be a DB for the University of Virginia. He became the coach of rival North Penn High School, which was trying to develop a program capable of knocking off CB West. Later in his career, Pettine Jr was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2014-15.

In 1999, there were two documentaries filmed about the father-son coaching rivalry, one by ESPN followed North Penn's season while the other followed CB West in what turned out to be Pettine Sr's final season. The two teams were ranked #1 and #2 throughout much of the season and ended up playing each other twice.

Both documentaries are worth watching and can be seen on You Tube. The ESPN doc on North Penn is called The Season, while the CB West doc is called The Last Game.

Pettine Sr had a highly recruited 6'3" 235-pound RB-LB named Dustin Picciotti who ran for over 3,700 yards and almost 80 TD's in his Junior and Senior years. Unfortunately, his college career at Pittsburgh University ended early due to multiple concussions.
