What's the gameplan for the Wildcats this week? Mixing in a little spread to keep the Broncos on their toes?

I posted my thoughts in the ICE Semis thread. We are clearly underdogs this week. Although Montini had to play Byron in the 2nd round, everything else about the bracket set up well for them with home field. I'm not privy to the game plan. Even if I was, I wouldn't share it here, but I'm pretty confident they won't be installing the shotgun spread in a week. ;)

My dumb ass observations, though:
Wilmo has been great on defense pretty much all year. Whoever the main dude is on the other team has been generally neutralized, if not completely shut down. The problem with Montini is that they are so good and balanced. Who do you try to stop? Dual threat QB's that are legit typically wreak havoc in the smaller classes. Du-Pec had an outstanding one last week, but their RB wasn't as much of a threat, and Wilmo did enough to slow them down, although they did hit a couple big plays.

The biggest thing is that Wilmo offense has to figure out a way to keep the chains moving and put together a couple drives. They need to limit or eliminate pre snap penalties, which hampered them last week. They need to be on the good side of the turnover margin. It wouldn't hurt to get something from the special teams. All in all, I think they will have to play their best game of the year, because Montini is their best opponent of the year, and probably their best opponent of the past few years.

I'll be curious what Wilmo brings to the table via the passing game this week. In order to win, I just think they will have to open up the playbook a bit.

Yeah I agree they will have to figure out something to get some points on the board. I know that Montini's defense is extremely tough and they largely held Byron in check.
Contrary to popular opinion, Wilmington actually does have pass plays in the playbook. They had to execute a 2 minute drill to tie up the quarterfinal game last year and send it to OT. Obviously, they would much rather play ball control and get 3.5 yards a pop, but that might not be readily available.

I really do not think Wilmo needs to change much on offense. Grind away and use every second of the play clock. Hope a bunch of 3 or 4 yard carries and then bust a few big ones. Defense is where they need to make the magic happen. Need turnovers and maybe a some big special teams plays

At the Du-Pec game I was standing right next to a group of Byron faithful and one of their coaches. They mentioned that Montini put on quite a spectacle. Edgy talked about the Bronco festivities on his 3rd and Leng podcast last week.

Montini will prevail, 28-14 - but will not be easy. They have to limit the turnovers (4 in last 2 games) and penalties, too many.
I like Montini running ball. Plus, sending all the receivers down field and letting their dual-threat QB take off running for 10-15 yards.

The pass out in the flats to their All-State WR does not work!! In the last 2 games they get back to the line of scrimmage at best. Defensives read this and shut it down.

Agreed. They made a very average Princeton defense look like the Steel Curtain. Also at least 5 penalties on their offense in the first half alone.

Montini was a good place to watch a game.
Wilmo wasn’t able to bring their A game today and it got a little out of hand. Wilmo was far from healthy, but they needed to play their best to have a shot and weren’t able to. Montini didn’t let them, and jumped all over them from the start.

In my experience, I’ve seen semifinals go that way, but usually on the other side.
Congrats to Montini. They are an outstanding team and should be hoisting the championship trophy next Friday evening.

They are in the drivers seat, but the other Monti will show up.
