Will we ever see another 3K rushing season?

I can see 40 TD, but IDK about the 3k mark.

If it is to be broken, it's in the next few seasons IMO. Any candidates in 2022 season?

In a time where RPO offenses rule, very doubtful, I’d say highly unlikely. Would have to be a monster back in a run oriented offense. Someone like Jordan Anderson at JCA, healthy and for a full season.

How about Kaden Feagin from Arthur Lovington HS this year? Kid is a 4 star recruit and simply out classes kids at the 2A level. His film looks like him playing against a pee wee team.

He crossed my mind. It will have to be a team that leans on a stud a la JJ at Glenbard North, and also runs over competition.

He fits the bill for both a la Glatz from last year

How many yards did Joe Martinez at St. Lawrence (late 90s?) end up with? I remember he had several games of high 200s, but maybe no deep playoff run kept his yards down just below 3k.

He's outside of the top 20 that ends at a little over 2600 according to the IHSA site

Gotta average 215 ypg if you play 14 games!

Need 333 ypg if you only play 9 games.

Thats a huge ask of one kid, especially nowadays when the game is more RPO/Spread/Passing oriented.

If this was the 80s/90s/00s yes....today can't see it
I know it obviously is possible but how crazy would it be if a team had a back average 333 a game and they did not make the playoffs. They would have to have some bad beats and poor defense.

If it happens, it will be a once in a lifetime talent like Derick Henry or someone out of place at a small division school where he can rip off a few 350 yd games. I think at 8/7A, you are going to run into too many defenses that can at least keep you honest, even if you're a stud.

Never happen. Teams will stack the line. You cannot run through an entire team. It will eat up clock. Plus teams will have to throw the ball a little. Why would you want to put a kid in that kind of danger.

Yup, this was where my hear was at.

I suppose anything is possible. You might get a great RB at a lower level. Not sure it would happen at an upper level because he might not get enough carries.

I think this would only be feasible at a lower level. Most games if they have a 3k type back would probably be a blowout and their coaches would hopefully pull the plug. I bet the kid from Arthur could get 3k this year if his coaches ran him enough, but common sense/sportsmanship comes into play and he will get pulled.

Ty Issac was so close in 2010. If it weren't for Malin Jones!

Ty had 2630 and 51 TDs!
Jones had 1700 and 28 TDs!
In 2013 Ivlow played 12 games and had around 2200-2500 yards.

min 2018, hailey missed most of the title game and wound up with almost 2700. And that’s with 3-4 games being games where the Hill got smoked and where he had to share 1700 with ianantone.

point is that there are enough kids nibbling at 2400 to 2800 often enough that someone will hit 3000 in the state again for sure.

Henry had over 4000 yards his senior year. Averaged 9.2 a carry

I don’t think with all the RBs MC had we had one go over 2,000....Greg Owens in 2002 might have been the closest....Dorham and Sulo too...but with 3 runners in the veer that’s tough.

No way it happens at MC, too much talent for one to dominate and the system spreads it so nicely.

What were JR Zs stats at JCA in 2000?
Looked at the IHSA playoff info and championship box score. If right, he was around 2,100 yards. They had another running back that year with over 1,100 yards and a FB with almost 500 yards. I was at the playoff game vs SHG. JR was both big and very fast. JCA also had a TE who was already NFL size.

Keep in mind for Hickey, his line was Mizzou, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Nebraska … and the BIGGEST body was a goof …. Good player but …. And the center was an ND student, meaning smart as hell.

Hickey was amazing, but our line gave it to him.

Cayne Smith from east moline United averaged 238 per game during the 6 game spring covid season. He got better every game with the first game being his season low 155 yards and his last game the best with 347 yards against 3rd ranked sterling who only game up 68 ypg rushing. I would have loved to see a full season

Blatant plug. I like it.
