Why York has a great chance to beat Loyola….

Why is that so hard to comprehend? York is a Run-first team, Loyola is more balanced and throws a lot more. Yorks offense won’t be impacted one bit, Loyola’s passing offense definitely could be with the severe cold weather. Simple logic…..
LA run game is excellent. Passing game is mostly about ball control with only the occasional deep ball. They will be totally fine in cold weather. (And, yes, York could still win. I expect a very competitive game given they know each other well at this point.)

The great equalizer in HS football is a QB that can run the ball this isn’t college or the NFL where you can have 11 athletes on defense. Also the best player on the field by a large margin plays on York. LA is the favorite but York winning wouldn’t be the least bit surprising.

So how did they only score 7 against Lyons? I’m not familiar with York so forgive me if it’s public knowledge. They way people are bragging on the QB, I don’t see where there would be any game the offensive production is only 7 points.

I will also add that MC has a running QB who’s pretty darn good.

York scored on a pick-6 vs Lyons. Yes their offense was totally stuffed and didn’t move the ball vs LT. It was a bad offensive performance no one is denying that. What York did well in the playoffs is use their QB as a 3rd running back and get him into space. No one is bragging on York’s QB, just saying he is being used correctly now as a running threat first and that is working very well! With teams trying to stop their running attack it is opening up the passing game when they need to throw. Very smart

How did EStl only score 14 against Edwardsville? When you see a team every year in your conference it makes a huge difference since you know them inside and out.

A smart coach won’t run his QB in the regular season since you don’t want him getting banged up but when it’s playoff time and you are playing for your life that goes out the window.

ESL only scored 14 because they looked past Eville and practice for IMG. They also started the younger QB because he had a good game against Alton. They also rested two on the Oline and moved the third to a different position. Really wanted to beat IMG and it almost worked.

This is why I asked the questions. Rivals don’t typically hold you to 7 without other things in play.

Thanks for clarifying. It was said he will be the best athlete on the field by far. If so that’s impressive considering LA have a couple of good athletes on the field.

Agreed 80sRambler
I think it was 34. He is excellent. Very difficult to tackle and fast and shifty.

And almost lost to conference rival Edwardsville in the process? York only scored 7 against LT because they were looking ahead to Loyola then

I’m pretty sure he was banged up at that point of the season. They are also playing a couple kids both ways for the playoffs. Adding Rieff to the oline is huge

1. DEFENSE - York’s D has been phenomenal against both the run and pass! They shut down a great running team like Warren and a great passing team like Naperville Central.

2. York’s running game - Last year York was a great passing team with a legit throwing QB and talented WR corp. This year they are once again taking advantage of their personnel and running their QB as he is lightning fast . They will continue to capitalize on zone reads as their QB and RB’s will put Loyola’s defense in conflict. Plus teams are stacking the box to stop the run and that’s creating passing lanes. They are averaging over 300 rushing yards a game in the playoffs and if they do that Saturday they will win!

3. Loyola is down this year - Don’t get me wrong Loyola is still a great team but they are not as good as they were the last two years. They are beatable and now facing a hot York team that won’t be intimidated and knows how to win!

I know many have Loyola as a heavy favorite but York is a very well coached team and those kids BELIEVE!! It will be a great game……
I hope your son/relative on the York Dukes plays well and enjoys the moment. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

ESL scored 14 in a winning effort. You, not being at that game, have absolutely no clue on what you’re talking about (the outcome of the game was never in question). York scored 7 in a losing effort. See the difference? Hopefully you do, but then again, if you don’t…….

York also beat Naperville central who curb stomped LT.

Perhaps Edwardsville didn't know their opponent's personnel too well. Similar to last year their conference rival found 10 brand new starters, all upperclassmen, that were not in the program last year. As for some of the newcomers welcome to the land of Lincoln.

Offense

OL #53
QB #8
WR #10
WR #12
RB #25
