Parentheses are first place votes. So therefore, two voters picked CG over ESL.

Meh, ESL has already been crowned. What's 2 more votes? Hell CG needs to get past Wauconda and Iggy to even be in the running.

That we cannot summarily shoot who e disagree with.

How TF does Mariano Rivera become the FIRST EVER unanimous entrant? Not Tony Gwinn? Not even Jeter after? Not Steve Carlton, no one?

Bah!

Someone deserves at least a .22 in the shoulder or hammy for that.
I agree, Rivera should not have been the first ever unanimous entrant. And it's GWYNN.

I'm guessing those two CG votes hail from the Shaw Media NWHerald contingent...and I can see CG at least giving ESTL a competitive game...and from an AP perspective I've seen a lot worse
Agreed, If and only If ESL and CG should meet in the finals, I am sure CG will throw everything but the kitchen sink at ESL. But come IL playoff time I have seen a lot of upsets in my time.

ESL vs CG woud not be close at all..

Right now the only 2 teams I see hanging with them are JCA and Loyola but we all know that won't happen.
I think you are selling your Trojans short. If they meet, it will be in late November. ESL probably will not have seen an offense like CG's. CG can possess the ball and limit ESL's offensive opportunities. Shorten the game and force ESL to play assignment football on defense. I'm looking forward to a possible ESL v. CG or Ignatius championship game. I'd give both a fighting chance in the game, because of their unique styles, which is conducive to late November.

Ignatius is going to give 6A coaching staffs nightmares.

ESL is the favorite but that field is surprisingly strong, quite possibly a tougher path to a title than 7A.

I don't try to sell my Trojans short but I do always try to preface any discussion with an "if". There are quite a few 7-0 teams out there and I don't discount any of them as I really don't know any anything about them. But, if they get to that game you are right about ball control. That's how they beat Crete Monee in 2018. Kept the big play makers off the field by domininating the clock. Do they have that kind offense this year? Perhaps. I do know they are not good at defending the pass and we all know what ESL is about with perhaps the best in state. Also, CG's front lines on both sides are much smaller than ESL. I'm just going to enjoy this regular season and see how far we get. It's a helluva team they have this year but it might not be enough. And don't forget the other contenders!
