In an attempt to gauge next seasons top teams, what are the numbers of returning starters in your team?
I will start
De La Salle - 0

Hopefully they open up that offensive playbook a bitSFHS

RB
A few WRs
TE
4 OL/DL a few both way guys.
3-4 DBs
LB two studs graduate, that’s the position they need to replace the most.
Not gonna put a number on it as a few both way players and injuries promoted some but it’s a lot.
I saw that Mueller announced he is leaving SF for Elgin.SFHS

*South Elgin. Confusing, but far less confusing than going to ElginI saw that Mueller announced he is leaving SF for Elgin.
Yes correct, thanks. I knew it was something like that!*South Elgin. Confusing, but far less confusing than going to Elgin
I think MC will be better across the board but of course Elliott is irreplaceable. Many cycles Dowling would have been a 2-year starter. The Oline looks scary and Dine has three power 4's. I wouldn't mind another portal addition at corner LOLGood news MC has a ton back. Bad news is none of them are named Jack Elliott. But let's not focus on what we can not have, there is some serious talent back on offense lead by Quinton Burrell and Marshaun Thorton at WR. Burrell's #'s for a Soph on Varsity were ridiculous and Thorton performance as a Freshman on Varsity was very solid, he got an offer from Miami Hurricanes already. 4 out of the 5 OL return and they got a 4 Star transfer in to fill the vaccant spot on the line so it's like having the whole OL back. Madden Wilson is back at RB and will be joined by a talented RB from last years Soph team that had a real nice year.
Defense has the entire DL with D1 DE's Jones and Quinn and massive Caleb Tucker in the middle who got his first D1 offer to U of I and I'm guessing he will have several more very soon. They return 2 LB's in Winkler and #32 who's last name I will choose not to butcher but had a great year as a Soph starting at MLB. DB's I think MC used about 8 of them last season trying to find the right fit and 6 of them are back, notably Traveras Harrington who took some early lumps as a Soph starting versus very talented receivers MC faced but really was locked in by the playoffs, had a big pick 6 in the semifinals. Conjar and Breakley got a lot of playing time and will be back.
Biggest question will be the QB. It's Emmett Dowlings job to lose and if he has the same work ethic and intensity as his brother Blainey then I'm sure he will be fine with an entire off season to prepare. He started the BR game that Elliott missed and threw for 2 TDs. Will have to work on his decision making and build some muscle but I think he will be fine. He's a Dowling, he's tough.
The returning O line is a huge assetI know we are mostly talking about the big boys above, but I can chime in on what I know, Evanston:
Offense
3 OL return
2 of 3 TE's who played a lot (lot of double tight last year, but both these guys also play on D)
1 WR, most explosive on team as Soph
1A RB (didn't start but as good as starter, but also starting ILB)
Defense
DL - honestly don't know who our "starters" were given how much we rotated, but the 3 starting OL all played some DL as well as one of aforementioned TE's. Also, someone who did start week 1, but had season sending injury in that game.
4 LBs - all starters return, including my 1st born 🤣
2 DBs - the soph WR mentioned above at CB and a S who was also a Soph
Pretty much the same at Naz with Malachuk. Naz looks to return 12-13 starters. But replacing the IHSA career passing leader in Malachuk and career sack leader in Kaminski is going to be tough.I think MC will be better across the board but of course Elliott is irreplaceable. I am unsure of who will be the top FVC team next season in upper 6a but maybe a Naz v Flyer 6A final.Pretty much the same at Naz with Malachuk. Naz looks to return 12-13 starters. But replacing the IHSA career passing leader in Malachuk and career sack leader in Kaminski is going to be tough.
Looking forward to another matchup with the Wildkits at our place this time! No idea what’s going on with my Vikings pending the new hire…I know we are mostly talking about the big boys above, but I can chime in on what I know, Evanston:

I really think Marty Quinn would be a slam dunk hire unless Laurence is looking for someone to teach classes as well.Looking forward to another matchup with the Wildkits at our place this time! No idea what’s going on with my Vikings pending the new hire…
They normally get lucky with the transfer portal, anyone yet? I don't know if BR will stay in the predicted 5A which I still don't understand how they are slotted for 5A and Rita isn't, or how Marist is 6A. But if Rice does, they would be the out right favorite to win 5A with Naz and JCA moving up. But I don't know if the powers that be would keep them in 5A as I'm sure they would hear about it from some alums and fans. But if they stay higher and lose they will hear about it as well, so damned if you do, damned if you don't. They petition up for hoops and baseball so I'm guessing they will for football too.Rice has QB and 3 OL on Offense and Liggins, another DT, a DE and a LB on D as well as their K
Good talent on Soph and Frosh teams coming up
If we don't have an Evanston thread every Saturday morning where you are bragging on your son then I don't know what you're doing.I know we are mostly talking about the big boys above, but I can chime in on what I know, Evanston:

I didn't even know Rice was eligible for 5A - that to me seems low. I think 7A is good for them, Rita, MC. Anyway I haven't heard about anyone transferring in as of yet. The coach has to prove himself this year -3 losses to Marist and an asterix win over MC doesn't cut itThey normally get lucky with the transfer portal, anyone yet? Its a name I keep hearing in the rumor mill. Not sure if they'd be able to lure CJ Cesario away from Chicago Christian, but the guy seems like a rising star and by all accounts is about as good of a human as you can find.I really think Marty Quinn would be a slam dunk hire unless Laurence is looking for someone to teach classes as well.
Marty Quinn is the guy Larry should get.Its a name I keep hearing in the rumor mill. Not sure if they'd be able to lure CJ Cesario away from Chicago Christian, but the guy seems like a rising star and by all accounts is about as good of a human as you can find.
He was MC Soph head coach in 2023 and he is a legit good man. He just won State at Chicago Christian so he can walk on water there for a long time, job security is in place. Laurence would have to really pony up financially to get him to leave at this point I think. Its a name I keep hearing in the rumor mill.
