Sterling-Viator

You guys really have Viator with a chance in this game?

Seriously?

Have they improved week-to-week?
Any significant personnel/position changes?

This is not the same type of Sterling team that Viator faced in 2017. I fully anticipate a close game with little room for mistakes.
I think it all depends on line play, if Viator has good O and D lines like Moline and Saint Francis,
(their two losses) It could be a close game, if they don’t Sterling will score often. I guess that’s true in any game though.

I just watched the St Viator vs St Patrick game. Viator looks pretty good, the sophomore QB is very accurate and Sterling has had trouble defending the pass. if Viator QB isn't rushed or has time in the pocket they could put up some points. That will be the key to this game, how much time the QB for Viator will have.

I think this is the last of the Kmet children at Viator.

I believe the next oldest sibling is playing baseball at Notre Dame. And we all know of Cole in the Chicagoland area.

I played football with their uncle, Jeff Zgonina, whose sister is married to Frank Kmet.

Frank and Jeff played football together at Purdue. Both were bad MF’rs on the high school gridiron.

I wasn’t aware of the QB change at Viator until after this post had some additional content and I did some research.

Interesting.

It pains me to say this but ‘Go Lions!’

I fully remember playing against Zgoninia in high school. He was an animal.

Not to derail this thread, but I clearly remember the first day of FB practice in the summer of ‘87. Zgonina was 6’2” 240.
He had been dunking in BB as a Sophomore.

We ran three timed ‘40’s’. He ripped off
three 4.7’s at that size, in gym shoes on grass. His standing broad jump and vertical were insane. All of these metrics got him to the NFL and kept him there for 17 seasons.

Funny thing is - his favorite sport in HS was hockey. Imagine him on skates coming directly at you!

He played fullback at the lower levels at Carmel Catholic. I never understood why coaches moved him out of that position, especially when our base formation was out of the ‘I’ and we had a good tailback in Donell Foster. And we never ran ‘Iso’ plays at the point-of-attack.

Can you imagine being the unblocked end-man-on-the-line and having that freight train ready to destroy you (Zgonina)?
