Bishop McNamara has announced that they will be renaming their stadium for Coach Zinanni at their opener on Aug. 30.

Have you seen the massive $3 million project Tolono Unity has undertaken this summer...$750,000 on a new building primarily for a wrestling practice facility, locker rooms, and storage. New turf football field. Track resurfaced. New turf soccer pitch. Turf softball & baseball infields...

yes. they were going to wait, but his loving wife, Liz, was battling cancer and near death. shg wanted her to be a part of the dedication. it was an awesome event. not a dry eye in the facility.

Should it be named for him...probably.

Might this be a sign of the crowbar coming out trying to remove him from the position...maybe, but not likely.

Might this be driven by one of Mac's major financial sponsors, a local bank, merging and forcing a bunch of new signage around the stadium...Homestar, who started as Manteno State Bank in the 40's and swallowed up a number of smaller institutions over the years, has merged with Midland States Bank. Midland previously merged with Centrue, which had merged with Kankakee Federal about 10 years ago. The Kankakee Federal main original downtown Kankakee branch is across the street from the Homestar downtown branch...the Manteno State Bank main original branch is across the street from the Kankakee Federal branch in Manteno...

Homestar was the name sponsor for Manteno's stadium as well. Their original sponsorship agreement from 2002 was about up, so Midland upped the ante and donated for the establishment of the new main entrance on the south end of the stadium off the main parking lot. This was part of the original plan, but realistically in 2002 everyone thought this would be the middle school by now...
