Rocksoup, Witty and the rest: congratulations.

MC is getting blasted on the other threads because a team thzaat was 10 - 0 got beat by the refs. That's their story, anyway.

See you in DeKalb. (can you imagine the bars on Western if that happens?)

MC played Batavia tonight? I must’ve missed it. I thought it was tomorrow. Anything exciting happen?

Thank you and congrats on MC winning. Right now, DeKalb is a town in northern Illinois country that is home to the NIU Huskies--one damn game at a time.

Let's see how the Crusaders do tomorrow and take it from there. And I know Wheaton North will be chomping at the bits--no disrespect to the Warriors from Willowbrook.

Game Notes:

First, hats off to the hosts. Great facility, great energy by your team, band, students and fans. That was my first time there and it was impressive.

Big Val out, K9 out. KB back into the swing of things and it was beautiful to see.

Tough first half as St. Rita couldn’t muster any momentum. Credit Geneva well-coached fundamental and energetic D. I knew if we could weather the early emotion and not panic, it would start going our way.

Second Half, a couple shorter, quicker passes to get TD Tommy in rhythm, move the chains, loosen the Geneva interior defense a bit and then the Sophs RBs took over with the OLine getting better push.

Don’t ask me which Soph RB is better. They are both very good. They each carry a different skill set. I would call them lightning (Middleton) and thunder (Stewart) but I think that’s unfair to both because Middleton is a physical runner too and Stewart is fast and athletic also. Just glad both are taking advantage of their opportunities and securing the ball.

Senior OG Logan Blake. With all the moving parts on the offense, and the younger OLine that’s had to fill in around him, he just goes out there every week and knocks people over. Love to see it.

Defense played great. I thought last night was junior Matt Kingsbury’s finest work to date.

Another junior coming on strong is Pat Farrell off the edge. Farrell and senior Jake Poselli on the edges are playing very well.

I need to see film on any better cover corner than Do it all BJ Hall. Feet, hips, route recognition, anticipation, tackling, does it all. Who in the state does it better? Send me their Hudl.

And the leader Djabril McNabb at DT with a big time sack. Same with Giuseppe Ursetta anchoring the front 4 with a sack.

Special Teams: Blocked a punt. 2 for 3 on field goals 1 for 1 on xps. Junior Connor Talty did a nice job flipping the field with punts.

Getting closer to getting the whole band back together. Stay focused. They have won nothing but an opportunity to compete in the Quarterfinals

I’d just like to say hats off to Coach Thorgesen from Geneva. Took over a program that hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2015 and coming off back to back 0-9 seasons.

I think he will build a program as successful as Batavia. Look forward to watching this program grow.

South side bars are always interesting to me. What bars on western would I walk into and most likely see two Rita/MC guys taking about the scapular game?

Rock, great recap!!

Agreed - Gevena is a great place to see a game. Nice to see fans stay in their seats and support their team when the game is not in question and race for the parking lot at the end. Really like how the school is in the residential neighborhood on two side streets. Felt like a small college town.

It would be nice to see the whole starting lineup on the field all at the same time. But the side benefit of not having your best RB and OL lineman not on the field is the next guy in line gets valuable playing time for next year.

The two sophomore RB’s brought up because of injuries up sure remind me of the one two punch that Darieon Hood and Clifford Moore were on the State Championship team. With four OL back next year that got a lot of playing time the offense has a solid core coming back.

The 1st team defense was angry when they came off the field after the long run and TD by Geneva. They hadn’t given up a score three previous games. That unit has really come together.

And on the KB watch they got him stretched out using him a lot as a decoy on a lot of sweeps. But he did get two catches. One was a nice diving grab as you said. Throw a nice long pass for a completion. Score a running TD. Catch a two point conversion. And was mixing it up with the DB down field. It was good to see he was in no way shying away from contact. But with the two Sophomores pounding the ball in the 4th quarter he wasn’t needed on the field at the end.

Nice to be home next week. Really hate 294 on a Friday night in rush hour traffic with all that construction.

DeKalb?

You're speaking as though this is one of the all-time best MC teams. In the Quarters and Semis, they'll be in coin flip games, just like they were last night.

Quite pompous.

Geneva's defensive performance was impressive. On offense, they lacked some talent at running back and wide receiver, but they battled hard. Hat tip.
