I believe they offset.IHSA rules question: does a holding penalty and a late hit penalty offset, or do you walk both off?
That's what I thought, but this crew walked them both off, and made it 1st and 5I believe they offset.
Stream is WAY behindThere's about a 5-10 minute delay on the stream. Still says 14-7
Ugh, 79 yard TD called back with a hold downfieldStream is WAY behind
No the Rams, killed themselves with penalties and turnovers in the first half, St. Laurence was fully healthy and didn't get a first down in the 2nd and the Rams just killed them in the run game. What happened in the second half did the QB get hurt? I saw it was 14-0 at half
They opened in 2014Congrats to DePaul prep. One of my favorite stories this year. I’m unfamiliar with their succes from the 70s and 80s. Have they ever been this far?
I meant Gordon. 😂They opened in 2014
Two different big passes, when the CB is in position, and got Mossed. What happened in the second half did the QB get hurt? I saw it was 14-0 at half
They are also two of the fastest growing schools. StL should be 6A next year, not sure about DPPWill both schools be multiplied next year? If so where do the end up class wise?
When it was Gordon Tech, yes.Congrats to DePaul prep. One of my favorite stories this year. I’m unfamiliar with their succes from the 70s and 80s. Have they ever been this far?
Looked like it was the linebacker in coverage, could be wrong though. Regardless crazy catch, could have been game changerTwo different big passes, when the CB is in position, and got Mossed.
I think Gordon Tech partnered with the De Paul University who sunk a lot of money into the upgrades and improvements to the school and thus they made the name change. Why didn't they just call DePaul Prep, Gordon Tech?
They took over the old Devry Campus. The old GT building still exists and the gym is still used tor DePaul basketball practice and gamesI think Gordon Tech partnered with the De Paul University who sunk a lot of money into the upgrades and improvements to the school and thus they made the name change.
The same reason it's Guaranteed Rate Field and not U.S. CellularWhy didn't they just call DePaul Prep, Gordon Tech?
And brought in dames 😀I think it was a complete rebranding. They went a number of years as GT and it wasn’t working. When they rebranded as DePaul and moved to the new DV campus, things took off. It’s an unparalleled comeback story. I love to see the success.
So they bought their athletic success? Who are they, the Dodgers? I'M KIDDING!!! Used to live not far from GT and very intrigued by the whole story of their development.I think it was a complete rebranding. They went a number of years as GT and it wasn’t working. They will be 6A without the multiplier - IHSA are idiots and used old enrollment numbersWill both schools be multiplied next year? If so where do the end up class wise?
Man, those darn idiots! Boo hoo hoo! They will be 6A without the multiplier - IHSA are idiots and used old enrollment numbers
Well, I do wonder why they use the two year cycle for enrollment rather than doing it yearly. Right now we are at the end of the cycle using the enrollments from May 2022Man, those darn idiots! Boo hoo hoo!
The kids play who is put in front of them. A run in 1A is no less significant than a run in 8A. Grow up and quit crying.
There was a smart, thoughtful response earlier in the thread. I was on your side of the debate until the point was made. His point was that, when schools like this encounter strong growth, it is the Frosh/Soph classes are impacted. It takes a few years to affect varsity football.Well, I do wonder why they use the two year cycle for enrollment rather than doing it yearly. As Gordon Tech, the team won the 2004 6A championship!Congrats to DePaul prep. One of my favorite stories this year. I’m unfamiliar with their succes from the 70s and 80s. Have they ever been this far?
A good question. DCP has almost 200 more students that Stl, it's my understanding. We're short of 1400. Idk if that will take us up to 5A or 6A.They are also two of the fastest growing schools. StL should be 6A next year, not sure about DPP
That is exactly what happened.I think Gordon Tech partnered with the De Paul University who sunk a lot of money into the upgrades and improvements to the school and thus they made the name change.
I stand corrected. The championship team featured yesterday were the 1980-81 boys!!As Gordon Tech, the team won the 2004 6A championship!
It was really cool to see members of that championship team, wearing GT jerseys and Championship jackets, while leading our boys to the field of battle during game intros!!
This should be exhibit A for the ihsa to scrap the 2 year enrollment cycle thing.A good question. DCP has almost 200 more students that Stl, it's my understanding. We're short of 1400. Idk if that will take us up to 5A or 6A.
I totally understand your point and I agree that the rule needs to be modified. This should be exhibit A for the ihsa to scrap the 2 year enrollment cycle thing.
It really doesn’t seem that difficult to take last year’s ISBE enrollment numbers and set the classifications. Just a bad rule voted in and apparently by short sighted publics.
Please don’t misunderstand, this is not a knock on St. Laurence or DePaul Prep. It’s a knock on the rule. This sort of thing could happen to many different schools, in either direction.

In the case of both of these schools, the jump in enrollment is recent. The freshman and sophomore classes are where the growth have occurred. These classes have little to no impact on varsity football teams. This should be exhibit A for the ihsa to scrap the 2 year enrollment cycle thing.

I understand. I've always thought the two year thing was weird and this is just further evidence. That's all. I realize that both of these schools will "max out" and probably soon. Again, it's not a knock on any particular school, just the general rule.In the case of both of these schools, the jump in enrollment is recent.
