So who is the 2019 IHSA Football Player of the Year?

Athan Kaliakmanis - Antioch
AJ Henning - LWE
Finn Schermer - Marengo. Long shot but great story.

Possibilities:
McCarthy-Naz
Sanborn-LZ
Kaliakmanus- Antioch
Williams-Richards
Jackson- NC

Defensive Player of the Year
Xander Mueller- Wheaton North- he is a tackling machine one of the rare kids at the high school level who can play sideline to sideline at the LB spot, Northwestern got a steal in this kid.

Offensive Player of the Year
Quinn Urwiler- Batavia- big bull type running back who is extremely agile and will run behind a large offensive line, the only downside with this pick is Batavia has another really good back that take some carries away from him.

I saw Urwiler play vs Naz last year , very impressive . Just keeps his legs moving after contact.

Yup. Xander is a much faster version of his older brother who currently plays at NW. He’s a legit 4.5 guy at the LB spot.

Urwiler is going to have a big year. He’s not the fastest of runners, but he’s a football player.

There’s no question that Jasckon from NC is going to be in the running. He’s got all the tools physically and with the best support with 2-3 D1 receivers to throw to. THey have the toughest schedule in the state this year playing an Ohio school, Stevenson, LWE and East St. Louis for non conference and the usual suspects in the DVC. (Minus the schools that left 2 years ago).

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a situation where JJ McCarthy should win it but a senior like AJ Henning ends up taking it home.
