Congratulations to the teams, programs and fans that are continuing their seasons this weekend. It looks like no Prep Bowl picks this week so it's time to predict this weekend's fates for the 13 CCL/ESCC state playoff qualifiers. 12 of the 13 teams are favored to win so GTron3000's love for the conference will be proven correct or it will have egg all over its mainframe and display.

If you want to try your luck, there will be a postseason only count alongside the 14 week season long crown led currently by our esteemed prognosticator @McCaravan . Interesting, with none of the teams playing each other, 13 points are up for grabs so if you want to make your move on the season long crown, this is the week to do it.

Posting this tonight just because I'm trying to throw McCar off his routine. Good Luck Fam!

And like the Jason Isbell lyric from Speed Trap Town that reminds me about the State Playoffs every year, "It's a boy's last dream and a man's first loss"

Get out to a game this weekend if you can!

While I wish all my brethren well, I'm concerned about the brutal trip that BR will have to take. I remember a Prep Bowl game at Gately many years ago that was delayed about an hour because Guerin got stuck in an horrendous jam on the Ryan.

He’s taking the points so he expects the games to be closer than the spreads suggest.

With Mayor McC out of the picture (still gloating over a narrow win and the refs and with the sun in our eyes and …), we might have a shot this week.
Marist, Plainfield, MC, Jacobs (6-ft crown field adds 8 points), SR, ND, Deerfield, CoM, Sterling, F, Naz, PC, JC.

As the great Lee Corso says “Not so fast my friend”! Mayor McC is back for the playoffs.

NN +9- I’ll happily take the 9 and wouldn’t be surprised if they won outright.

Plainfield S +55. Say it together now “I’ll always take 55 points” MC banged up after the battle royal last week, I’m guessing LA is too, get the big lead and get the starters out.

BG +50. See above, MC with same plan, get the lead, get them out. And.....I’ll always take 50 points

Jacobs +10.....Lock of the week? Could be....BR banged up, Jacobs at home at 8-1.....I’ll happily take the 10.

MP +4. MP wins this.

GBS +25

JCA -24- Saw Phillips vs MC and they were.....no bueno. It was a running clock after half...This Brown and White has similar success

You should be ashamed of yourself for winning. Do you realize how much we tried?

Good luck to all the brethren tonight. Hopefully everyone wins one in round one and both teams come out healthy. I don’t think point spreads mean much the playoffs. But they are fun to predict. I’d like to see every coach get the non-starting seniors in the game somehow tonight if they can. They deserve it and so do the families that sacrificed to send them to those schools. To the players that lose tonight on either side of the ledger what you have accomplished can never be taken away from you. This weekend after the games are over hopefully all of the posters here will remember that these are teenagers playing this game and let’s try not to call out kids by name.

That being said I predict all the CCL/ESCC schools pull one out tonight but many will not cover the spread.

BnR you sir are ridiculous! 12 out of 13. Best of the week by 2 unofficially. And @tuccs newcomer of the week with 10 out of 13. Official report out in 48 hors or whenevs

I underestimated the strength of the CCL Blue schedule and my eyes got wide with NN getting 9 and Jacobs getting 10. Shame on me! But come on Rock, your beloved couldn’t give us one more point for the push? 😀😀

Went for it on 4 th and short from the 16 yard line instead of kicking the field goal to go up 16 late in the 4th. TLoner sad their was a audible sigh of relief or grumble by the edgy faithful in attendance😂

Broken clock right twice a day. I was at the Marist NN game for three quarters. Marist is so battle tested could’ve easily been a running clock to start the second half but for a couple bad interceptions in the end zone. Beware the Blue.

Well the book says always take the points. I could never find that book on Amazon thou. But Kuska likes to put games away. Conventional wisdom in overtime on fourth down and three loosing by three would to kick the FG for the tie. In the 6th overtime with BR Todd went for the win instead of the tie to go into the 7th overtime. It was the most exhausting game I ever attended. It was a shame BR had to take the loss. They should have gotten sometime like hockey does. If I'm not mistaken Todd also went for the win on the last play of an important game with Providence Catholic.

SR took the air out of the ball in the second half vs Geneva to the point I thought they were using Tom Brady footballs. I mean they ran the same running play, by the same back, into the same hole, with same blocking scheme like 15 times in the second half. Geneva is too good of a team to take the pedal off the floor too early. But a blocked FG, an interception, and a fumble recovery by the defense in a about a 5 minute span sealed the deal. That was against a good Geneva team. And now a tough Prospect team on the road.

Brian Piccolo recalled in his autobiography that after the Bears ran the exact same play for Gale Sayers twice ... they sent him in and called that play again. "I looked up and saw a team picture of the Baltimore Colts." I never met him, but I used to know one of his team-mates from Wake Forest. He said that Piccolo was exactly as James
Caan portrayed him.

OK, back to the playoffs.

I saw something different on one drive where Rita had the ball on Geneva's 30 yard line and winning 24 - 7 in Q3.

It was 2nd & 4 and the call was a pass play in which a good crossing route was ran, a decent throw was made, but the Geneva DB made a great interception.

In that case, I wish they would've run that "same running play, by the same back" you wrote about above. LOL. Potential to take time off the clock and take a 31 - 7 lead looked very promising.

TK also went for a two-point conversion to defeat an undefeated and very talented Hubbard team in R2 at Gately: 29 - 28.

Round one news and notes:

Contest over! I finished in last place. No thread Wednesday for round 2.

Real State Series Round One News and Notes:

bnr. What can I say?

Par was 8.43 so STL, newcomer TUCCS, whatshisname McCar, the Joliet crew pj, usd and our favorite GT/DeP Ram rep bc joined bnr in besting the field average.

Good to see 705 back in business. Started hot, cooled, found his stride.

I suck.

See you Wednesday Fam!
