That sucks if so. I can understand things change, and if he was stepping away from coaching altogether that would be one thing, but one and done is whiplash levels quick.Seemed like he was moving on to another opportunity from DH article, whether it was college etc I have no clue. He lives in NW burbs, that was a reason he took the RM job.
If it’s Nelson they’re going to pull major talent and get things rolling thereWorst kept secret in the NW burbs. Rumor has it he is taking a NW burbs private school job and is taking another MSL East head coach with him. This is not good news for schools in the MSL. The draw to a local private school in the area with these guys coaching is going to be huge.

Yes agree. I’ve always felt that viator was a sleeping giant. Lots of $$$ in the nw burbs, lots of parents who have the resources within a 15-30 minute drive. I do feel that it’s hard to justify the money for tuition since the public schools in the area are so good. This could hit Fremd hard IMO with the Inverness crowd.Great news if you're a fan of the local private school!!
Perhaps they should put a multiplier on hiring a coach where the privates have to pay into a slush fund so ill prepared public coaches can get the training the successful public school coaches employee! This is not good news for schools in the MSL. I know they already draw the top lacrosse kids in the area, these moves may put them over the edge to finally get the great football kids to attend.
To be completely honest though, Viator doesn’t have a great reputation, not coming from me but from parents who I know who thought about sending their kids there. Questions about character with the students. I don’t know if you heard about the parent who recently had a physical altercation with multiple students in the parking lot before school started for the day. That’s not a rumor either. Video was everywhere. That was insane!

Word on the street is he had to make a decision on tnt or Hersey head coach. Might be self policing by d214. Just an educated guess.I've heard that rumor....but why would Nelson go from head coach at Hersey to a coordinator at Viator? How does that benefit him?
Sure hope its true though!
Punted?Sounds like a wonderful rumor.
1. Viators AD position is open, have they announced a hire? (Or will they be the Chicago Bears and hire a coach first?)
2. Nelson wont leave Hersey to be an assistant at Viator but he might leave to be an assistant at Northwestern.
3. Viator has been a sleeping giant for a long time. They have had some minor success here are there but they wont get the kids from Inverness and Barrington. Those kids will still drive past SV on their way to Loyola.
4. Viators facilites are pretty lacking. Why go to Viator when you can play at one of the MSL schools.
5. Just cause Gould punted in the NFL doesnt make him a success as a high school coach. Look at the coaches at Carmel. With all that talent have they made a huge splash?
Guess he doesn’t remember the Gould field goal that made a hard right in that windy game or the double doink.Punted?

He did punt twice in his careerPunted?
Mike Obszutz is still AD for now. Not sure how long he is staying there. He’s a great AD.Sounds like a wonderful rumor.

Wasn’t Cody Parkey the double doink?Guess he doesn’t remember the Gould field goal that made a hard right in that windy game or the double doink.
After how he ended the season at Meadows with the kids, it likely won't be his last moveYikes Meadows - 3 Head Coaches in 3 years. Unacceptable experience for the rising senior class.
3 teams in as many years for Robbie Gould. High school football is about relationships and mentoring. Doesn't seem to be a priority for "Coach" Gould. Meadows won the offseason with a splash hire last year. Buyer beware Viator.
Mike is the interim AD there. Currently, Viator is interviewing for the new AD. I am told they expect a decsion in a few weeks.Mike Obszutz is still AD for now. Not sure how long he is staying there. He’s a great AD.
My bad, not a bears fan but do remember the kick that made a right turn and a few kicks he missed in the orange bowl against Florida state during the 2005-06 seasonWasn’t Cody Parkey the double doink?
He wasn’t on the 2006 Orange bowl team that played FSU.My bad, not a bears fan but do remember the kick that made a right turn and a few kicks he missed in the orange bowl against Florida state during the 2005-06 season
What happened? After how he ended the season at Meadows with the kids, it likely won't be his last move
Was it really Kevin Kelly that was kicking then. Damn time flies! Then again I can’t believe I’m going on 58 so I best not trust my memory anymore! He wasn’t on the 2006 Orange bowl team that played FSU.

Checkmate , I’m going to have to use the google machine to check my memory, I’m now in @MC63 age group I suppose! It was Kelly
I somehow remember that game and made me think…my memory is terrible lol.Checkmate , I’m going to have to use the google machine to check my memory, I’m now in @MC63 age group I suppose!
Even worse for me, I was at the game that didn’t finish till well after midnight local time and a Penn State guy.I somehow remember that game and made me think…my memory is terrible lol.
Allegedly, he told varsity kids who had been up all season, but weren't playing much, to just turn in all their gear after week 9. Even though they made the playoffs. Basically ending their season, and in some cases high school careers, a week early. What happened?
