Papa Leo, not to be confused with Jewish Uncle Leo, is a Southsider who grew up in suburban Dolton but attended church at St. Mary of the Assumption. Cardinal Prevost then attended the Catholic Theology Union in Hyde Park from 1978 to 1982. During that time, he taught as a substitute teacher at St. Rita High School.

Let's see what he can do for the Mustangs during his tenure.

I read that he was a Mendel graduate. But who can believe any report that you read anymore? First I heard that he was a Cubs fan and then his brother said he's a lifelong Sox fan. He didn't make any comment on whether or not that changed at all after last year and the start of this season. Anyhow, good luck to the guy, the world is a very screwed up place and has been for all my life. I hope he can help make some sense of it.

Leo XIV attended the Augustinian seminary in Olympia Fields for high school. But his mother was the librarian at Mendel.

On NBC Nightly News they were interviewing a priest who was good friends with the new Pope. The priest texted him about the baseball question and the Pope responded Sox.

It was ABC who reported earlier in the day that he was a Cubs fan. I think the NBC reporter asking the priest to do that was totally trolling ABC... I think they enjoyed that ABC got it wrong.

Let's be honest, if you're switching teams after some down years, then you were never much of a fan.

It's so Chicago to be arguing over if he is a Cubs or Sox fan...I'm here for it.

His maternal grandmother was Creole and his father's side is French. With roots in New Orleans, he's probably a gumbo of flavors. And I'd bet he's been down there during Mardi Gras, chugging on a can of Dixie beer.

It's worth noting that he attended Game 1 of the "05 World Series, which may be why the Sox swept the Astros.

That was a little more than a down year and they should be thankful this year for the Rockies making the 2024 White Sox look like an average squad. But I hear ya. As a Lions fans, I suffered through an 0-for the season and I'm once again enjoying them. Or should that be finally enjoying them?

The Sox are 11-28 and in last place. That’s not average in my book. I don’t think even Pope Leo can help them. It’s not the fans fault, all you need to look at is their owner.
