Palatine. Major contributors returning along with an upcoming junior class that has lost 1 game in 2 years. Last year had 5 sophomores on varsity starting. This could be a very special year for the Pirates. Hoping to see them in the top 3. @EdgyTim

The freshman squad was super impressive too. I could see guys like Fager and Santiago up with the varsity in the fall. QB battle will be fierce. Before Dersnah went down and Elter did such a good job this past fall, I think everyone assumed Tiejens, the sophomore QB, would start next season, and then the freshman Santiago was probably the best pure passer of the three. It's a nice embarrassment of riches to have.

Edgy - I don’t disagree with any of ur top 10 picks, however I do think Bolingbrook has a good chance to be in there by season’s end based on the big name skill positions they have coming back.

Palatine for sure will be loaded. I'm still confused as to why they didn't give the ball to the stud RB in the playoffs! Second half he had a couple touches.

Especially deep in their own territory.. why Elter is getting sacked for a safety in the 4th quarter when Dom could have grinded out first down after first down. Well, luckily we have him for one more year

I know Prospect QB graduated so not sure if they will be quite as good. Seemed last year was a very strong year for those NW Burb area teams.

LA hasn't named a Coach yet and winning State in your first year is tough so I will go with LWE as my way to early favorite in 8A. Marist is dropping down to the CCL Green this season and should help them as they need to replace a lot on both sides.

Was also wondering this… if we’re going by “trends”, I think both Lyons and Palatine have better trends than HC over the past few years.

No order except for LA, LWE, and MS being top 3 in any order the reader wants so Six Flags will be okay with it. As for HC, Lyons and DGN come back to earth, HC improves, and their week 1 game is a downgrade. That's a 3 game turn around. The West Suburban Silver does seem to be in an upswing right now though.

They are definitely one of the top teams in 8A they return a ton of talent from a really good team and most of their key positions from last year are intact. If you are going to put together a list of 8 teams most likely to win 8A they are in the team photo.

I don’t disagree but he has predicted 14-0 the last two seasons and hasn’t come close to happening. They have the talent but so does everyone at the top of 8A. I think others have better coaching but the change at LA might open up the field.

To be fair, everyone laughed when that prediction was made last offseason and everyone said Lyons was a 5-4 team last yr.

Well they did finish 5-4 in 2021 when he predicted it. I think most did not foresee HC having one of their worst seasons in decades. Even so LT barely scrapped by them and BG. Credit to them for their playoff run and pushing LA for part of them game.

That’s fair Bruce. All I know is I REALLY like those Yellow helmets with the Blue Lyons cursive… I’m a big fan of LTHS just because of that jersey/helmet combo!!

WSS sounds like it will be another epic dogfight this season!!
