Exactly. It goes along with the mindset in the B1G. B1G COY since 2000:Where do I start? Well, first off, your acting like Vasey plays for a program having a Cinderella season out of nowhere...he plays for Prairie Ridge...State Champions in 2011, 2016, 2017 and runners up in 2019...they are machine. They also had a well deserved POY in Samson Evans, who was the National Gatorade, Sun Times, and Edgy Tim POY. Look for the last time MC had a POY, you may have to go back to Tony Furjanic in 1980....So again not a program overlooked in favor of the CCL in any way, shape, or form.
Vasey is having an amazing year and playoff run. Your suggesting that just because Dowling is the QB on the #1 team that people think he should be handed the award based off that. You do know that he has thrown for 38 TDs, ran for 6 and added over 3,000 combined passing and rushing yards against 8 teams that made the playoffs, 5 that made the quarters and 3 that are still alive in the Semi Finals? Marist was an OT away from probably being in the semis as well. He’s a stud, and he’s having remarkable season. And yes he has excellent players around him, but how many of his receivers have any offers? None. It’s absolutely ridiculous and I pray it changes but they don’t have any offers. 1 of their OL is a D1 commit and he’s been out the last 2 games, the rest have no major offers. The defense is amazing but MC isn’t winning games 14-3 and 7-0, the defense is doing their job, and the offense is doing theirs and Blainey is leading them.
And it’s very obvious to all who have watched the last few games he’s playing hurt...and when they tried to take him out and he literally with his hurt arm waived off the Coach and refused to come out....he’s a tough as they come. Hand him this honor!
In the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Fox Valley wasn’t too defensive this year. I don’t know, it’s a pretty big accomplishment no matter what conference we’re talking about. No? How many kids in the history of Illinois football have rushed for over 3,500 yards? One. This assessment coming from someone a year ago saying CG had no shot beating ESL. Sorry, there have been better facts presented by others supporting their guy. This is weak.Agreed. Who you play matters.....Dowling > PR stud > Prospect stud. Numbers can be inflated & one can spin them how they choose. PR kid was on field for many blowout games right? The Fox Valley wasn't too defensive this year.

Yet Vasey’s 2 biggest games have been against NOT FVC teams🤷🏻♂️Agreed. Who you play matters.....Dowling > PR stud > Prospect stud. Numbers can be inflated & one can spin them how they choose. PR kid was on field for many blowout games right? The Fox Valley wasn't too defensive this year.
Denied.@epicbret You nailed this one however gonna have to put a 3rd place disclaimer and add Dowling so the board doesn't crash from the screaming Catholics!

Definitely a huge accomplishment for this young man from Prairie Ridge. Guilty of not knowing much about Prairie Ridge football as I follow mostly CCL schools. I’d agree with strength of schedule means a lot. Following the Catholic league for close to 40 years we’ve seen many prolific running backs/Qb’s who haven’t come close to this type of milestone. I just can’t help to wonder if this kid would rack up almost 500 yards and 8 TD’s in a single game against the best defenses in the state week after week? Blainey Dowling has put up huge numbers week after week against very tough competition. As many posters argue the catholic league schools have a huge advantage over public schools in the IHSA state playoffs year after year. If you believe that argument (I don’t) how can you possibly argue that Blainey Dowling isn’t this years POY? As @McCaravan has pointed out these numbers have been produced while Blainey literally watched from the sidelines in the second half for half the games in the regular season. The Fox Valley wasn’t too defensive this year. Appreciate the honesty in your response. Seeing you follow both conferences……in your opinion do we see the same type of production including IHSA rushing and td records if Vassey lined up in the CCL Blue behind this MC offense? I realize hypotheticals suck do your best.I also consider MC has the best and most talented overall roster in the state, without question, this season. This benefits a player as much as lesser competition.
Thus I view Vassey's absurd output as the best individual performance and thus my player if the year so far.
This is also from watching and following both leagues very closely. The FVC isn't the blue, no, but it's a flourishing league in terms of numbers and the talent pool. It's just so far removed from Blue territory I don't expect Chicagoans to register it.
I also say the "system QB" argument is invalid as it's a factor for both QBs.
It’s interesting……. From the same crowd wondering why this catholic school is playing in a certain class and why does this school……. Like I said above….. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to have that discussion don’t complain about this discussionPerhaps this should be looked at as POY for each class if we’re going to dissect the type competition these kids play against. It’s an argument as tiresome as overall #1 team among 8 classes.
I don’t care who wins it really. If Vasey wins, people will want the asterisk saying his competition was lacking. We grown ups get real petty about this stuff. It’s interesting……. Not at all. No asterisks in my book. This kid sounds very deserving and has accomplished incredible things. My comments come from the entire discussion above. That’s the truth. POY is an incredible accomplishment. I’m more interested in another state title for all the kids I cheer for every season.I don’t care who wins it really. I don't think he necessarily plays QB in the MC offense. He's a runner first and foremost. I also don't think the MC offense allows any one player that many touches.Appreciate the honesty in your response.
